My goodness I don't know how long I've been away from the forums but the last time I was active on here, there were still rules about personal threads not being allowed. That's pretty ancient and I have been on CR since April 8, 2007. I think I should make a re-introduction and make new connections with people who share the same interests as I do. So prepare for a first post you don't see often here!

Alright then, a bit about me and my Crunchyroll journey. I first wound up in this place when Youtube went "Salem hunting" on anime being uploaded there. The series I was currently watching got taken down and I then found CR by chance and finished watching that series here. Then I started making friends on here. In time CR became more of a social outlet for me instead of just a streaming site. I became friends with all kinds of people, including a handful of mods & staff that were active back in the day.

Within the first 5 months of joining, my CR activity skyrocketed. I receive and/or send buddy requests several times a week. It peaked at 710 buddies at one point and I was constantly conversing with many people at a time, on average at a rate of 20 messages/guestbook entries a minute. I don't know how I did it but I was still able to keep up. There was a time when I took a week long break and by the time I got back I had 300+ notifications waiting for me lol. Still I consider 710 not that big compared to what I have seen with people having thousands (not including the almighty Shinji of course). I was constantly posting in the forums as well, mostly in the general area but sometimes check things out in the more formal debate area. Back when regular members could still upload videos, I had shared a few as well, most of which are parody AMVs. I was also involved with the unofficial Crunchyroll E-zine (electronic magazine) called "The Onigiri" during the time it was active. Some of the mods/staff were helping out with that as well and I was a freelance writer, puzzle, and art editor for the e-zine. I still have my badge for those positions in my profile. Ah those were good times!

However I got busier with college and my activity began to dwindle but I still try to reach out and keep in touch. Yet I saw many of my buddies come and go. They either became inactive, said final farewells going off to other things in their lives, or nuked, most of the time without saying a word. My buddy list began to dwindle as I made periodic profile cleanings. The CR e-zine crew eventually disbanded as well and new mods/staff have been appointed. CR became stagnant for me and I was no longer active in the forums either. Throughout the years I was on and off, sometimes short, and sometimes for longer periods of time. I've also seen quite a lot of drama going on, affecting me and my buddies. I often volunteered to act as an arbitrator to resolve issues because my aim was to preserve the peace among my friends. But I wasn't always successful and many of them nuked as the easy way out, some for good, and others to start over again and more often than not, they get into the same problem again and the nukes just keep happening. I didn't want to have to deal with those things and a huge chunk of my buddy list was purged due to that. The stress also got to me and I needed time off CR. This was back in 2009. From then on out I was just on and off, catching up with folks here that I could. Only a handful of buddies remain but that's ok. I'd really like to have meaningful friendships instead of being just another name on a list. Even though this is an online interaction, real people are still involved and I would treat connections made here the same I would if it were in-person. Still many come and go and that's ok with me.

Despite the "sad" moments, I remained firm. I stood by this account and will continue to do so. It's ok when things change around you. If you can still be yourself, there should be no cause for worry. Even if you made mistakes, things can still be amended. And if you find the burden only drags you down, by all means leave it. You may have lost things, but you could gain things as well. Because I didn't nuke, it provided me the opportunity to bump into old friends again. Of course with new accounts but still long lost pals nonetheless. And I guess doing so served as some kind of beacon in case I meet more of those people again. You'll never know when an old buddy comes looking for you. So here I am now moving forward to new horizons and the opportunities they hold.

Whooo ok that's enough history. So I'll share some of my present self here. I see a lot of League of Legends players here and that's friggin awesome because I play it too. xD Though last November, it was mostly displaced when I took interest in Kantai Collection (Kancolle). LoL made it back again into my gaming when I more or less got done playing catch up on KC. Loved the KC series btw, although it may feel awkward for those who watched the series first and not familiar with the browser game yet. I play a bit of Starcraft 2 as well though I played a lot of SC1 before that too and WC3 but mostly for DotA. Never considered getting into DotA 2 or similar because I have LoL. I do have a PSX emulator on my computer because it's nice to be able to play those classic games back in the original Playstation days. Loved Crash Bandicoot, which inspired part of my username. Also FF8 because the junction system is rad, especially with the no-level up play style.

I plan on going to Anime Expo this year again so there may be opportunities to get acquainted there for those of you interested. I mean come on Crunchyroll is big there. Can't have AX without it! Also I work at Marukai at downtown LA. Do come by for a visit and get your hands on the never-ending supply of Pocky because we need those to fly especially at AX time . Yeah I work with snacks so it's pretty crazy but I find it fun, despite the occasional frustrations dealing with people who frequently misplace our items. Makes me wish it was like Target or something. Always neat and tidy for the most part haha.

Well that's it for me. That's quite the wall of text so I hope you enjoyed the read. I can get enthusiastic with writing. After all, I was a freelance writer for the Onigiri remember? xD Well thanks for your time reading and see you all around!

And here I was one of the last ones who thought that way about the net and people and treating online accounts like people. Small list here too for that reasons. ^_^;;;; *waves* Konbonwa!!! (at least where I'm at *giggles*) I'm not exactly new but new to the forums and been making a (good) name for myself, I think Not sure if you wanted any answers for this thread but I love your literary style and just loved your post (I'm a writer myself) and I just got a person who nuked themselves after some really weird stuff so now I don't feel bad either! I suppose, welcome backs are on in order? So, welcome back CrashAriMP5N2O San!

Oh thank you! *waves back* Well the thread is more of a re-introduction since I've been away so long and a lot has changed. Most of the people who are looking for friends here are new and would likely bump into others who are in the same boat as they are but in my case, I'm a bit of an odd ball due to my long time on the site. If people would like to talk or add me, they're free to do so. And I am glad I was able to help make your day better after such a bad thing that happened. And if such a thing happens again, I'm sure you'll find someone to talk to about it so you may be able to let out the stress. I'd gladly listen myself and offer support. I mean it's nothing new to me as you have read so it's all good. ^_^

aw, you're ever so sweet! Arigatou, Crash Kun!!
I was pretty new to the 'nuke' situation and he and I were PMing and he got really weird with me pretty quickly. He was my first buddy so I was really new to all of the buddy stuff. I'm pretty cut-dry-clean with no funny business of which I was clear about (it's even in my profile) so I told him firmly to back off and straighten up if he wished to talk to me still. Less than 30 minutes later his account said 'nuked' (had NO idea what that was..such a noobie) so it was actually rather a relief *laughs nervously and scratches the back of my head*

I have to admit, I have met some absolutely awesome people here. People who are nothing less than worth their weight in gold. It's really restored my faith in people even though I was off to a rather rocky start. Some of these people are just simply lovely human beings.

I wish that there was a 'thank the mod & Admins' thread they really deserve so many thanks for dealing with complaints, craziness and general upkeep all the time, not to mention their absolutely jaw-dropping subtitling which is SUPERB!!!

*sigh* I see. I guess those things still happen. I know CR is a big place and my circle of folks now isn't as big as it used to. Still I hear about it from time to time from my friends. It's quite a nuisance but yeah there will always be people like that and we just have to deal with it. Don't worry about it. It's best to ignore/block such individuals but you did the important thing being firm with your boundaries. Hence why he backed out like that.

Still I wished your first encounter here wasn't like that. But I'm pleased to know that you held your faith up in people and I couldn't be more happy about that. I wouldn't want to go super sleuth again like I did so long ago. Even though it is for the sake of my friends, it's not easy doing "detective" work and it can be an emotional drain when you find out things that could really hurt people then on top of that think of a way to resolve the situation in a civil manner.

To be quite honest, from talking to some people on here and viewing a few of the newer threads...it's not only common but also expected (which really shocked me). I honestly can't remember which thread said that and I wish I had saved it but it's a newer one talking about the site itself and has well over 30 pages of dialogue and probably more now. Just an FYI so if anyone weird happens along your way, it might happen often. I know people here who've never had a problem and others who can't seem to stop getting 'those' sorts of people and are constantly reporting. Me...I like to redirect the poor people who are trying to get friends, to the 'FRAAAANDSHIP' thread so they have a better chance a lot of people say 'feel free to add' so I"m always saying 'go there and have fun! Be added!' and then I posted a whole 'etiquette' post and sounded oh so formal (maybe a tad snobbish? O.o ! ) that they should read profiles and PM-ask FIRST since many others boards I know of, say that that is common and sound etiquette although most people don't know ^_^;; I know when I was big on Role Play and joined other communities, such courtesies were common but a lot of it gets lost in the shuffle a bit ^_^; there's a new show for Spring called MY Love STORY and if you need something wonderfully awesome and light to drive some clouds away and laugh till you cry, I do suggest that one My goodness I write dissertations! Gomen Nasai!

I think for the most part, they may very well be the same people themselves. It correlates well with high nuke rates from members not even lasting 1-2 weeks. and yeah I noticed you have posted in the other threads as well and with the way you replied, I thought you were a staff member at first xD But it is nice of you to be helpful like that and promote a positive community. I too accompany requests with PMs first and write a simple intro and some info, usually of how I came across the person's page and what interested me in it. Hehe and it's ok, I enjoy substantial chatter so no biggie here. Otherwise, you're free to view me as a fellow dissertationist. (ooh la la I just made up a new noun lol).
Posted 6/2/15

*cackles* Hey I'll take that noun ANY DAY over 'Ginormous' which has been added to the dictionary ....my gosh that's such a crime My inner grammar nazi (is that what they call it nowadays?) bucks every time I hear that word!
-ahem- sorry...tangent

Aaaanyway...ahaha...yes. I actually had that thought myself when I looked at a post of mine awhile back. I was thinking "I hope the mods don't ban me because I sound like a mod O.o .....I've just been around other message boards so long that 'online manners' are second nature to me and I...well....love to help....it's kind of an addiction gotten me into some pretty pickles but I am who and what I am so, as Elwood Dowd from the old black and white movie of Harvey would say:

Elwood P. Dowd speaking: 'Years ago my mother used to say to me, she'd say, "In this world, Elwood, you must be" - she always called me Elwood - "In this world, Elwood, you must be oh so smart or oh so pleasant." Well, for years I was smart. I recommend pleasant. You may quote me.'

I'm huge into old classic movies but that quote has always stuck; and people say I am mildly annoying verbose and yet for my dissertations, they find me pleasant; and I would rather be kind and pleasant ^_^; just like Elwood...you may quote me. ^_^ *looks at clock* goodness ever gracious you are up late! 'Tis nearly 3am where I am

lol it's no crime when the one doing it is the authority in the first place. oh I better not encourage loopholes. haha. Don't worry about the tangent, I'll get you back in the swing of things. xD

Ah well there were times I seem like a mod myself but I was simply reminding people so that they won't unnecessarily get into trouble. Ah and I may even learn a thing from you with the classics. You and I are in the same timezone at least. I get off work tomorrow due to family stuff so I can sleep late. How about you? I hope I'm not keeping you up needlessly.

not at all. I'm rather a night owl myself. Recuperating at home with some awesome family ^_^

Once in a while I do report a topic because it only seems to serve the purpose of giving the topic-starter a reason to hate on people (for a very good example of this, the thread "Why Don't You Have A Job' is a terrific example'. I can't remember if I submitted a complaint about that one yet...)

Normally however, I just sit and enjoy the literary love when I find it and join in when I wish.

The warm heartfelt emotions of finding new things about people, reading the opinions of others even if it's just about food, those are the little golden moments in life where something just tickles your brain, bubbles up in our throat and you laugh and laugh; and then you catch your breath and you laugh some more and just sit there with a huge grin on your face like Garfield the Cat. Consequently any family members standing nearby look at you nonplussed ..... .....doodedoodedoo....

There will always be trouble makers but all they wish is attention, I suppose; and I let the mods do their wonderful work and let them handle if I don't feel I can make their job a little easier by trying to mediate (which is normally the case. I'd end any and all arguments for good if I could).

I think perhaps, since it is a public place, people might loose sight of the fact that this is not just an anime site nor is it a 'Sandbox' (that seems like such an old word now and I'm not yet 30 ! ). When it all boils down it's about good people finding other good people and talking about lovely, exciting things that make their heart pound and race like their favorite characters or that awesome weapon or what-have-you. It's so exciting; and I've found that you can draw so much good from the people here in particular. There have been a couple of topics of people simply needing some support and help in their life; and these people are more than happy to give it. It's so encouraging and tender and warm. It makes you feel glad to be a human being that can be a part of something so grand.

That's great ^_^ lol yeah I saw that thread title earlier. I found it rather amusing in a sense that why is such a thing even there addressing the public? Not much of a conversation that can stem from it but if it does, it would likely be in bad light. Anyway at least you find good things as well. You did join in on this ancient one's train and it is very pleasant

I myself took the time to read your page earlier. It's quite profound, despite the scarcity of visual objects. But I do find the reference portrait appealing. You like red wine I suppose? And I concur with your observations. I don't treat this place like a separate world. Rather it's a convenient medium to reach out to others who are otherwise far from you. But the basic interaction remains the same.

Oh my goodness you read it? Wow. That's a long read *giggles* I spent hours editing it. At first I thought I was being a bit stuck up and I don't want to sound that way but I have come to the conclusion from years of experience elsewhere that it's best to be as kind yet as firm as possible and put your cards right on the table. Thank you for reading that mini novel ^_^;;; and it's good to know that someone else feels the same way; that's not too often of a happening and it is ever so lovely when it does happen

I wasn't sure any musical videos or pictures would help or make it seem a bit gaudy since I was so wordy. Do you think it might be a nice touch? A lyric-video or two, perhaps, or a couple of small pics of my favorite characters? With words I"m never at a loss -ahem- obviously......but with beautifying I have a bit of trouble

I'm happy you like the picture! ^_^ I do love that avatar site. It's closer to a 'reality' photo than most and I've always dreamed of having a high penthouse apartment like the one in my background when I become a famous novelist Oh my goodness I love red wine I limit myself to two glasses spread out over awhile; I'm not very adventurous as you've read and I do not favor having my first hangover anytime soon, hahahaha; but yes I love all types of wine. 2-buck -chucks are even ok with me as long as they don't taste like straight vinegar Reds and whites but I prefer dryer kinds. Beaujolais and Pinot Noir are among my favorites for reds and I love Chardonnay and Pinot Grigio for whites ^_^ Once in a great while I'll try a Moscato but I'm not one for ultra-sweet-drinking-sugar wines haha. I love the taste of wine. I'm far more picky about beers. I like Michelob Ultra and I love micro-brew and tap beers far better than bottled; of course hard ciders are wonderful

Hehe well curiosity is a strong one in me so I couldn't possibly resist om nom nomming on that juicy wall of text . I don't think it is necessary to add more images but if you want some more colors, it may be a good idea. It's not easy even for someone like me who can be elaborate with designs. Those BB codes need to be correct or they would look weird lol.

I hope my profile is as equally appetizing, though it may get a little awkward for some. You probably know what those things are xD. Plus I have several pages too that tell more about me so that's another avenue of exploration. Some of them are obsolete though i.e. pages that were a dedication to friends that have been long gone by now. Still I place some level of sentimental value on them and thus they remain.

Ah I'm not much of a drinker myself but would be up for it on a good occasion. When you become famous and have all what you wanted, I'd definitely drink to that. With you even, if possible! Again I could learn some wine/beer linggo from you Btw, I really should add you now after all that. xD

*cackles* I will admit freely and probay with no suprise to you that a few of the photos were a bit shocking, haha; but what's funny is that I noticed in some places our writing styles were quite similar!

I've yet to check out the links but I will keep that in mind *sees notification* heehee I'm going to answer that quickly so I don't forget and while I do so, bid you a most wonderful night as my eyes are officially drooping and I'll most likely be using my keyboard as a pillow at this rate!
Ooooh Crash san I am such a fan of the silver screen. I was raised with the TCM channel don't get me started on the pure awesomeness that is James Cagney!!! Haha but now (for now) I will bid you a quiet Oyasumi, add you, and tackle youe guestbook tomorrow ^_^

Haha I see. Well we can't be too alike or we'd end up as clones so I'll have a few deviations here and there. xD Hmm despite the shock you seem amused too. In time you'll get to know more of why such things are there, even if you already got the general idea. But for now have a good night my new friend, and pleasant dreams! I too should get some shuteye. I'll catch up with you again soon. I shall brace my GB for the ensuing messages.
