Hello everyone~!

Bjaker here to let you all know that we have made some updates to the Site Rules.

The rules retain the essence of the prior set of rules but have been reorganized and rewritten to remove redundancy, and to replace extraneous details with the overarching intent and spirit of the rules and expected behavior.

Rules that relate only to the forums have been organized into a "Forum Guidelines" section below the site-wide rules.

The term "PG-13" and detailed "extended" rules regarding images have been removed, but that does not mean "anything goes." Content still needs to remain appropriate for a wide range of users, which includes teens. Several of the former detailed rules about images are now covered by "Avoid especially salacious content" in the revised rules.

Although listed as rule #3, the one rule that is at the very heart of what's important when communicating with others on the site, and which is implied in almost all of the other rules is "Be respectful." Behaving in a respectful manner toward each other, and about others, is an effective way to keep bans at bay.

If you have any questions about the changes that have been made, please feel free to reach out to me via this thread, or by private message.

Best,
-Bjaker

Seems like the rules have softened up just a bit, which is comforting, they need to be laxer. This seems like a step in the right direction though.

The day when we can post images on the same caliber of what the News Team posts in the News section, will be a good day. Sometimes it can be a bit of a nuisance when you're about to post an image that's on the borderline of the rules that it may or may not get you banned. It'd be nice to get rid of that worry.

Just a question, why didn't you post this under news? A lot of people will miss this since it's in general and it'll also vanish among other all other threads that get's posted here

This would be a good thing to be posted on "Site News" on the front page. Everyone should see this.

This is just a first step, we're constantly working to improve the site in all aspects.
Working towards parity is something that we are trying to do.

As far as having this be a Site News post...
There is ample direction towards the Site Rules within the forums.
The thread has also been 'stickied' and marked number one priority in the General Discussion section of the forums, so it is not going to disappear.
I believe this is an appropriate amount of exposure for those who use the social aspects of the site.

Awesome Good to hear!

And that's good, if it's stickied, people who use the forums a lot should see it.

PS: I've always found your avatar hilarious. Dat dog's face

Damn, did my thread really have that much bad comments in it, we need to state this again?

I'm just speculating, but I probably should have realized it was a risky thread to make...

It was certainly not your thread that prompted this. It happens in lots of threads. I think it was mentioned here because in crafting the updated rules "Be respectful" was the thing we most wanted to emphasize. We wanted to show that the rules aren't primarily about all that nitpicky stuff, but about treating each other well.

Personally, although there were a few troublesome posts in your thread, I thought the thread as a whole displayed a high level of kindness and support and I was so very happy to see that. If it had been up to me only I would have left it open because from what I could see those "good" posts were the majority, posts that disagreed with what Caitlyn Jenner had done but said so respectfully were present too, and the truly ugly posts were the minority. It's just that sometimes those things tend to get out of hand and so a preventive measure was taken by one of the staff.

Personally, I oppose relaxing the rules. Still, I hope it works out well.

In my humble opinion you guys should have stick with the PG-13 for posting image, video or gif.

Where it say "Site Rules...Infringement of these rules may result in edits to and deletion of posts, comments, etc., " should say "...edits to and deletion of Forums Post, Anime Comments, Anime Reviews, Site News Comment and Live Chat...."

In Forum Guidance Write clearly and Other ways to keep the forum experience enjoyable should be include as article #7 and #8 in Site News Rules respect their order of relevance.

In my humble opinion.

Sex shouldn't be in any PG13 movie (in US ratings system anyway). But non-sexual nudity is fine. Movie ratings are more sensitive to language though. In that respect, CR forums not just might, but WOULD be rated R if they were a movie.

The image standards would be in line with a PG rating...though even that allows for brief nudity. More risque images are posted here than I believe would pass in a G movie. :p

I think the re-written rules give mods a lot of latitude in their moderating. This can be a good thing, and on the whole I'm hopeful. However, it can also be a very bad thing. Just look at The Escapist...

I also think that despite Bjaker's warning in the OP (which they might not read), people might see the lack of explicitly spelled out standards for image posting as meaning nudity is a-ok, and post an uncensored screenshot from some anime they might have even seen here.

It's excellent to see more consistency between content offered and what is allowed on forums. More than a few times I had to personally edit images that weren't the least bit salacious, as they might have been construed against the previous rules.

I'm looking forward to how the 'be respectful,' clause works out, there was too much personal attack/swearing at each other level escalation in the highly debate worthy threads I do love.
