Well, I decided to post this because I've come across a lot of people these days, some of them are rude beyond belief... People that will see you and immediately be rude in any way possible. I've been wondering why they act the way they do...

Why do you think they act like this?

Is there a reason behind it?

Do you think they are doing it on purpose?

With some of the people I am talking about, they crave attention, even if that attention is at your expense. They will say rude things, make fun of you, and try to bash your opinion each time you put it out there.

Makes me wanna just...

rude people are rude because they were raised that way by their parents or they hang out with the people who are rude

I'm inside what you'd call a UFO. I don't understand these questions.

Why do you think they act like this?
I really think it is all about upbringing and past experiences. Also, especially in the bustle of the big cities, people don't care as much about being polite. It's all about personal benefit, screw everything else. It's also way easier to be mean over the internet because there's nothing the person can do to get back at you. Sort of like how people are all mean on the road but they are suddenly nicer when you're both out of your cars and you are bigger than them.

Is there a reason behind it?
I see it as a form of selfishness. Don't be nice if there's nothing to be gained, it's a waste of time. People should only get what they deserve, so who cares if you respect some stranger, right? Perhaps it is some type of mask, too. When people feel as though they are in a safe spot and that nobody can punish them for anything they do, they can get nasty.

Do you think they are doing it on purpose?

Some of them are doing it on purpose for sure. Others are acting on purpose but either aren't aware they are being impolite or just haven't thought enough before asking/speaking. Others are probably just not eloquent and well-spoken enough and their words are interpreted as being hostile even if that isn't their intention.

People tend to mellow out with age. I find that there is a disproportionate number of nice, old people to nice teenagers.

There is a lot more trolls out there as well that are just looking for a reaction, any reaction.
Same goes for rude people, try to stay calm and solve it in a civil matter or just ignore it.
You let it work and other like minded people will see that this will get that response
they are looking for and the cycle continues.

Now as for rude people in real life, I try to keep away from those people as much as I can.
Simply have no time for that attitude unless it's friendly and we are on the same wave length

I think they get a kick out of it. Safety of internet anonymity and all that. They seem to be cowards though. People who are rude in person are just the worst to deal with though.

I mean this response with all sincerity. If you regularly experience rudeness (and you aren't in a customer service job) then it quite likely has to do with the situations and places you are in, and your appearance to the other people.

At a subconscious level, you are judged by your appearance compared to the people interacting with you. If you dress up and look confident, you are treated as important and worthy of respect. If you are very obviously countercultural and/or seem to be "vulnerable" in some way (a disability or you somehow are stereotyped negatively) that will signal to more animalistic/emotional people that you are weak.

"I'm sorry sir, we can't sell beer past midnight" man: "that's bullsh#t! I buy beer all the time at 1am! if I can do it in Missouri then I can do it here!" no you can't >.>

I'm guessing like everybody is saying...
They either had a not very pleasant time in the past (child abuse or parental something)
Or they just want to make themselfs feel important by inflicting pain
That's just my guess, I'm not a psychiatrist or anything lol

People are rude because they are people. I guess it depends on the community in which they are brought up as well. Say, if you grow up in a respectful community then you're a lot less likely to be rude since those around you are not.

I always try to be as polite and friendly as I could, but sadly, the majority of people is rude, and that fact will probably never change (╯︵╰)

I'm probably one of those rude people. I remember holding the door to the library and the line of people were just passing by me like I was invisible so I said "do I look like a fucking door man?!"

yup :\
