For me, I always ask to split it because I always feel bad for the guy who has to pay for everything. If he insists, then I would get mad and make him take my half of the money afterwards lol I just feel bad!!!!!!!!

My ex NEVER had money, so I payed for EVERY date we had in our two year relationship.. I'm the type that feels awkward if my partner pays for everything and spoils me a lot , but damn .. he never tried

As a guy, I feel it's important to at least offer to pay for it. Considering that I'm the one that does the asking (Never been asked out come to think of it...) I tend to use "hey at least you get free meal" as a bonus incentive for them to say yes.
Though if they want to split the bill, as many women do I won't get into a fight about it.

I was raised oldschool so my opinion will be biased here. I think a guy should pay every date, especially the first. I will say that a woman shouldn't "expect or feel entitled" to have her food paid for, but not many women are like that. A guy should pay, but the woman should either offer or show gratitude. Most people show grtatitude anyways so that's probably nothing new to anyone here.

I've kinda made my own cannon when I comes to this sort of thing.

On first dates both parties should go dutch because you're already investing your time in the other person on the off chance you MIGHT hit it off is it necessary to invest your money too?

You should always go for Coffee on a first date, there are several pros to this.
- You can actually talk and get to know each other
- It's a public place so you're safe
- Coffee is relatively less expensive than a movie and dinner
- It's less time consuming
- Also if it's not working out you don't have to worry about making excuses or sitting through a three course meal, you can down a cup of Joe in a matter of minutes and be on your way.

Now once you get passed the dating part it should work out that you're paying for some and your partner is paying for some. You don't keep score or anything it just kinda works out that way. If you are keeping score or feel like you're paying more times than you want to it won't work out.
