I don't consider myself weird, but I also don't get the hate towards fans who REALLY LIKE hentai anime/eroge. There is nothing wrong with it. Whether you like yaoi, yuri, whatever, its normal physiological condition to be interested in that stuff.

As long as your hobbies and weirdness don't cause you to confuse reality and fiction, resulting in the harm of another human being or breaking the law, then there is nothing weird about what we do. There is nothing wrong with being an anime fan.

I'm just going to go ahead and laugh at the people on this thread that are basically acting like hipsters.
"The weird people are the ones who are into mainstream cable culture!"
"I'm not weird, the people that say I am are!"

It would be, if thug were ever used that way in a conversation. I applaud your use of urbandictionary....the most accurate of all the dictionaries.

Let me recount the words that are similar to thug's actual meaning in usage. Punk, bravo (Yup, actual word aside from applause), ne'er-do-well, criminal....etc. Just for you, man. Just for you. I don't do this for just anyone.

Yeah I'm weird, but the good weird. There are some anime fans that are the bad weird though. Those people I stay away from. But then those people are the ones who shame the anime fan name and get the most attention.

You wouldn't know I like anime unless you ask me and I do like anime but I don't like anime like that plus I spend a lot of my time watching sports or listening to music(Not anime OST).

I think the Cheshire Cat said it best - "We're all mad here".

It's very true. And is it so wrong to be an oddball? I have no interest in what's "normal"; you'll never catch me slipping work so my buddies and I can get together for beer as we create our fantasy football teams. I'd rather spend the money I'd use towards that on anime conventions.

Gomenasai, my name is Ken-Sama.

I’m a 27 year old American Otaku (Anime fan for you gaijins). I draw Anime and Manga on my tablet, and spend my days perfecting my art and playing superior Japanese games. (Disgaea, Final Fantasy, Persona series)

I train with my Katana every day, this superior weapon can cut clean through steel because it is folded over a thousand times, and is vastly superior to any other weapon on earth. I earned my sword license two years ago, and I have been getting better every day.

I speak Japanese fluently, both Kanji and the Osaka dialect, and I write fluently as well. I know everything about Japanese history and their bushido code, which I follow 100%

When I get my Japanese visa, I am moving to Tokyo to attend a prestigious High School to learn more about their magnificent culture. I hope I can become an animator for Studio Ghibli or a game designer!

I own several kimonos, which I wear around town. I want to get used to wearing them before I move to Japan, so I can fit in easier. I bow to my elders and seniors and speak Japanese as often as I can, but rarely does anyone manage to respond.

Wish me luck in Japan!

A) Think it was meant sarcastically, and
B) "Thug" technically comes from the Thuggee cult of assassins in India. Thus the term "thug" later came to mean someone who hits you over the head with a blackjack.
And yes, we could have used a little preparation before that photo.

Yeah sure anime is a bit weird. But at least it's not boring! And yeah we might be weird, but so what. There are lots of weird people in the world. So it's not like anime fan's have a monopoly on it or anything.

Exactly I shouldn't have to defend the fact that I go through Yaoi Manga like string cheese or that secretly the only reason I am working on my BA is that one day I can travel to a country and the be the cute foreign English Teacher that my students will love and adore and also to fulfill the secret desire I have to own a legitimate school girl gym uniform. (clean of course I'm not some pervert.)
