i don't really look like someone who likes anime lol

I'm with this chick.

No one would ever suspect I watch/know what anime is if I didn't say anything. Hell, people assume I'm just the next Dexter if anything at work.

There are some very...eccentric anime fans out there though...

If you act out certain mannerisms from anime, believe me, you will come across as rather weird. Peace signs, eyelid pulling, fan waving, the works. This is even more apparent in non Asian nations.

Not to sound like an elitist or anything like that, but I think anime is vastly superior to most television entertainment. Not only that its a genre that respects the intelligence of the viewer and expects you to have a modicum of class and education.

A) Think it was meant sarcastically, and
B) "Thug" technically comes from the Thuggee cult of assassins in India. Thus the term "thug" later came to mean someone who hits you over the head with a blackjack.
And yes, we could have used a little preparation before that photo.

A) Pretty sure my own response was dripping with sarcasm.
B) I'm amazing.
C) I'm also kinda hungry.
D) Got any food?

Well every medium of art has low brow stuff. My comment wasn't about ecchi or harem anime.

Anime is the same as TV, it's on TV. So it's the same. I like both, and neither is much better.

Anime is just a medium really, there are all kinds of stuff. Every group has people who are super weird.
For anime it's probably idol fans/2D is life and extreme otaku who try and live the life of anime characters and view the real world as the anime world daily.

I'd rather not be what is called 'normal' nowadays, that sounds sorta lame. My only anime appearance would probably be a few anime shirts, my Gintama messenger bag thing, and a few figures/posters if you come in my room.

The real question here is what is considered normal? No one is completely normal.

There are weird anime fans, totally obsessive ones (Pictures shown in beginning) and there are normal ones who enjoy it but don't go ridiculously all out.

Honestly, most people that would look at me would not know what I do/watch/listen to in my spare time. I don't come across as your average person that would do/watch/listen to this specific thing. For example, I have an extremely varied taste in music that drifts from some classic rock (i.e Queen, Pink Floyd, Def Leppard) to instrumental game tracks (OCRemix). My viewing habits are also completely wild, i'll watch anime (as do everyone else here) but i'll also watch plenty of documentaries and semi-fly-on-the-wall type programs. Plus, i'm also a massive gamer.
