There are those which have an economic interest in keeping communities in bad shape, and as it turns out they're the same people who peddle illicit drugs/weapons, invade homes, murder people, and commit vandalism. It is commendable that this man is trying to improve communities, and it is a tragedy that he was attacked for his efforts, but we do know why people do things like this: it's profitable, and there are those who are willing to undertake such enterprises in order to extract profits.

This disgust me so much. You got a decent guy trying to make his community a better place and get beat down by degenerates for apparently no particular reason. If you can't help someone, at least don't hurt them. Kudos to him and his kind heart!!

If you disenfranchise people and put them in a bad environment bad shit happens. Its commendable that this man is trying to make his area a better place.

That being said OP while I cant get behind what these people did referring to people of color as "degenerates" is pretty fucked up.

Thugs that beat people without any reasonable justification are degenerates, their skin color has nothing to do with it.

Courtesy of Google:
'noun
dəˈjen(ə)rət/
1.
an immoral or corrupt person.
synonyms: reprobate, debauchee, profligate, libertine, roué
"a group of degenerates"'

This would be libelous if it were untrue, but based on the video it seems apt. It is not racist to call any member of any race a degenerate when they behave in an immoral fashion.

Nah you see this is the same thing that keeps stuff like this alive.

I mean this guy is trying to make changes in his community and gets his ass kicked instead. The racist idea that all black people are devious or bad is just disgusting, and we reinforce to them a lot.

Most black media is gangs, guns, prison, drugs.
White media is school. businesses, wealthy people.

It's just messed up. I love all people and the mentality some people have just disgusts me to my core.

This cartoon isn't saying all black people are devious. Morpheus is black

The overall theme of that is not really very nice.

Black men in prison, speaking in racist tones, with big lips, and a guy with 187 (murder) tattooed on his arm.

Come on..

i can't sympathize with this dude. from making the video to him going up to them, he's just iffy. he should be admitted to a psych hospital.

As much as movies, books, and games like to parade the idea of a single saviour, no one can save a community from this kind of crap than the community.

In the movie Gran Torino

I'm not trying to say that it's pointless, but unless a body of people come together no change will necessarily come along.

Easier said than done guys. As someone who grew up in the "hood" or "ghetto" as it's often reffered to as, I can assure you it isn't that simple. Life is pretty rough in that environment, especially when you have nothing. I can understand why people act that way since I've been there, but it's no excuse for the behavior some display though. Ohio isn't exactly doing great economically speaking either. Cleveland is a prime example of it. (the west end compared to the east end)

I get what he's trying to do and it's commendable, but he needs to be smarter about his moves.

I remember watching a column of black smoke in the North rising up high as you could see. That was the City of Cleveland on fire.

Wouldn't surprise me. I know Cleveland used to be huge in the steel industry.

They had a huge riot in the 60's and I was standing in Medina, (if memory serves about 28 miles away),And just watched the smoke billowing up on the horizon.

For a minute there, I thought you were referring to Medina in Saudia Arabia and I was like.. thefuck how'd you see that?

I can understand the confusion. The locals in Ohio even pronounce it differently, but that doesn't translate into text.Reminds me of an old Birds song.
