So I decided to start this thread because I've been seeing far too many coincidences lately, a little too much for my comfort.

Well here comes the questions..

What do you think of coincidences?

Why do you think they happen?

How often do you see a coincidence?

Name some coincidences you have had.

I'll name a coincidence I get all the time, it isn't the most spooky I have but heck why not...
So I only have one clock in my house, besides the cable box, and whenever I seem to walk by it, (Not every time) it will be on a time like (1:11, 2:22, 3:33. 4:44, and so on..)

During my grandfather's viewing before his burial his new watch went off at 7:00PM which was when the viewing was coming to an end and then all of a sudden my uncle's phone went off. It was like my grandfather was telling us to get the hell out and move on with our lives because he is no longer suffering.

While I was typing in this box while trying to think of one, a spider ran up to my mouse pad, and I GTFO for a while, and I just went inside my room to type this on my laptop..

Since living in Florida I have had a lot of "small world" type scenarios. The chick I moved in with after meeting her on CL went to school with a guy I was dating, and their school was in a tiny ass town miles away!

As far as the clock thing, after I broke my leg and was in a drug induced fugue for several days, almost every time I would come to my senses for a moment, it would be 2:22, either am or pm. So that time has always kinda stuck with me, ever since then.

We had a new maintenance guy start at work and during an off moment he came over to chat with me.He just happened to mention his Father in law's name was Smith and I said "The only Smith I'd known was a girl named Denise 40 years ago from high school that we used to drink with".He looked oddly at me and said "Yeah, that's my wife".

Eh, that's not spooky--
Me, seems like half the times I look at the clocks around lunchtime or late night, I always catch them showing 11:34.
Of course, whenever I see digital numbers, I still have this old conditioned association to wonder what they'd look like if you typed them in a calculator upside down...

Coincidences aren't all too spooky for me. What's spooky for me is having those deja vu moments. It happens all too often for me. I could have sworn I wrote this exact post before...

The night of May 24th, 1979, I was 7 years old and had a nightmare about a plane crashing. We were visiting relatives and our connection was in Chicago's O'Hare International airport on May 25th. We arrived at the terminal about 2PM and were waiting for a layover flight. I loved looking at the planes out the window as they made their take off runs down the runway. The bigger the plane, the better.

At about 3PM that day, American Airlines Flight 191 started its take off. As I watched it roll down the runway, I saw one of its engines separate and flip up over the wing, landing on the runway. They couldn't stop the plane, apparently, and it lifted off, but I saw it turn into a flat, horizontal position before I lost sight of it. I ran over to another section of windows in time to see the smoke and fire from the crash.

To this day, it remains the single deadliest airplane crash in American history, with 273 fatalities.

That a scary enough coincidence for you? As a side note, we were all so freaked out about it my dad rented a car and we drove back.

I'm so sorry, Legion13. I didn't realize fully at the time what was happening, I only knew something bad happened. I knew people had died, but I couldn't research it fully until I was older, It was scary for a child, to see something like that. I'll never forget it. I've been to the memorial reunions for the last 2 decades.

It's rare for me. Usually something numerical. Then I forget about it.

iTunes keeps playing songs from stuff I've talked about moments before, usually when i talk with my brother. If i talk about a certain game with him, the soundtrack from that game is almost sure to follow if I'm listening to music while talking to him. Not spooky at all, but it's always kinda awkward.

One time when I was a kid, I lost a tooth, and on the next morning, there was a quarter under my pillow.

Fucking dark magic man...
