I personally believe all women should be treated equally to men but not completely equally... where men can hit them if they hit man and that bigot nonsense.

Now like men, women should never be called any hurtful names (Ex. Fat, Hideous, Stupid, Slut), they should never be abused (Ex. Punched, Slapped, Raped, Stabbed), and they should be treated equally like men (Ex. Same wages, same power, same education), they should never be considered sex objects (Ex. Less clothing meaning better sexual, attractive. and popular).

To solve the abuse on women I believe we should start by teaching men to be respectful to woman while also teaching the women the same thing.

What are some ways that you would go about creating equality between both genders?

Good for you

Some of us are neither feminists nor anti feminists

You sound very white knight right now.

Women are not fragile beings. They can handle themselves. Treat women like you would treat anyone, and not differently because they're women.

I'm for equal treatment. Treat all people with a measure of respect. Don't use people. Give people what they deserve based on the value of what they have done. Doesn't matter if you're a man, woman, or hermaphrodite. Same goes for punishments. Punish based on the crime, not the person.

If there's someone behind you, hold the door open for them. The person behind the counter trying to help you is a person, too. Don't forget that. Mind your manners.

Sex, race, religion, whatever, is all irrelevant and should not be an issue. Treat your fellow human beings with respect and be fair.

Jeffcoatstephen, Although I disagree with one of your points (which we won't go into), I think your post in general is one of the the most thoughtful and spot on posts on this site in a long time. Great post.

I'm for equal treatment of everyone no matter where they come from or what gender they are.

And I'm not your daily stupid feminist who only brings up problem for woman since I know both male and females have diffrant privileges. And I personally think these privileges should be smashed down so they become one and the same no matter your gender.

Thank you for saying this. That first line of this thread had me rolling my eyes and...well, ick. Women are not priceless treasures. Heck, I don't think people are priceless treasures. I do think we should generally treat each other reasonably well, regardless of sex and gender. But "treasure"? Puh-leeze.

Look, I can respect a perspective which calls for people to be nicer and more polite. With that said, I'm really not sure a position which argues women ought to be delicately handled like Faberge eggs is actually all that respectful. Of course rudeness should be avoided for people in general, and of course sexual and physical abuse of anyone is totally unacceptable. But this notion that women are some sort of "treasure" that needs to be vacuum sealed from anything insulting, or tragic, or offensive, and further that women's sovereignty cannot include objectifying oneself on a voluntary basis (such as becoming an actress or model for pornography) is insulting even if it is well-intentioned. I'm also not really on board with this vilification of human sexuality as an intrinsically negative cultural force even if I do acknowledge that things like beauty standards and sexual behaviour can constitute legitimate causes for concern and discussion.

In short, just follow the Golden Rule and you should be alright.
