A bad dub can have a certain car crash appeal, but I don't think it makes things better.

The Ghost Story dub, on the other hand, is what we used to call a fundub (as opposed to fandub). That's where you just throw the original script out the window and have a good time.

Go stand on the X and wait for the anvil to fall. Please.

Or watch the new dub, which is not shite.

Sailor Moon, the original, was stupid in English, Japanese or whatever language they made it in... Why would I watch a "So bad it's good" show, without "so bad it's good" VA?
Watching the japanese is like watching Plan 9 from outer space, with good acting.

I mean, they mixed a rice ball with a jelly doughnut. That's impressive fucking up if I've ever seen it. But not all of these shows I have nostalgia for. I think the Ultra Maniac dub was good, however, it had some strange moments and dialogue that just felt unnatural, but in the most entertaining way. And let's not forget Revolutionary Girl Utena's hypnotic dub. Despite being inferior to the subbed version, it had it's own quality. It was so bad, that it made the show seem even more surreal.

You've never seen the Viz dub in your life, and you know it.

Now please either update your jokes to the 21st century, or go re-ban yourself again.

No, I haven't seen the Viz dub. Is it good? I was talking about the DIC dub. Are they the same or something... I don't know. I'm talking about the stupid one that came on as a kid. I'm not a huge sailor moon fan, so don't expect me to know all the details and shit.

And update my jokes? which ones. I make a lot of jokes, but I don't recall seeing any of them in the paragraph you showed

good dubs are really important for getting English speakers into anime.

First anime:
Death note
Best dubs ever

Originally also watched hundreds of naruto episodes with English dub...

Bad dubs do not help at all. The thing is, the earlier episodes of Naruto had really bad dubs.
However, it got better over time... more importantly it got me into anime...

Bad dubs would've just turned me off

I don't think a bad dub can really make a story better, but I do think a Dub can be required for a series to make sense:
Ex Panty and Stocking with Garterbelt and Is This a Zombie? The language used in English makes sense.

I'm seven episodes into watching the dubbed ITAZ on Viewster, and yes, I have to admit, thanks to Funi's good dub, it's almost starting to make sense now.

(It started out as just a nice, simple cross-hybrid of Resurrection Princess with Gonna Be the Twin-Tail, but....now I'm convinced the show is just making it up as they go along. But in a good way, not like the Tenchi OAV's.)

Pretty sure ALL Hentai dubs would qualify

(No explicit sexual content, but strong language so still NSFW)

I'm guessing that the voice actors have practically no directing and just screw around as much as possible since they use an alias/aren't credited.

Hentai dubs are ... sort of in their own category in this department. Often humorously so.

Oh yeah, there's not a chance they were taking that seriously. I also love how you knew exactly what dubs I was on about.
