If a professor wants to "take the gloves off" to challenge people's perceptions let them. The students will judge them accordingly. Say for instance if a white professor wants to talk about the struggle of black people he better know what he's talking about if he or she wants the black students to take him seriously.

I don't remember anyone dying for me to use the n-word freely. Actually, the other way around was what it was.

Free speech doesn't cover using racial epithets and expecting to get away with it.
Yes, they did. I can't go around shout the n-word without being afraid of getting shocked in the face. Where is my freedumb?

If you wanna do that, you're free to. But you're not free from the consequences.

Beyond anything else, if you're a person with some class you'd realize how screwed up this is, this fervent want to freely call people the n-word and use it. It's messed up. Our country was and is a racial mess, and you want this? Are you insane?

We have free speech, but that's a responsibility too.

I'm pretty sure he's being satirical there. He's parodying the tendency of certain people to whine about censorship and their free speech rights being violated just because they acted like an asshole and people got upset with them for it. Like you said its people not understanding that just because you have the right to say something doesn't mean you should say it, or that other people are somehow wrong for getting pissed at you when you do.

I mean there's a possibility he's genuine, but he's consistently misspelled freedom as "freedumb" in his comments. He's either a parody or I'm about to lose a lot of faith in humanity.

Political correctness is kind of like feminism. It's a good idea until some idiots go too far with it.

Why do I want to exercise my free speech so badly? Because it is my freedumb to do so.

The fine arts, humanities, sociology, languages, and literature. Liberal arts is just what they usually call around an arts degree around here, probably because it houses subjects like human rights, which are usually on the liberal side of the spectrum? I don't think it's any more than that, just a buzz word to make it look more professional probably.

No matter how PC you try to be, the only way to avoid offending people is to lie about yourself.

ex.
I support gay marriage, but think gays should not have civil rights protection. Since being in a same-sex relationship is a choice, I think it should be treated like one, same with smoking. You don't see smokers shouting discrimination when asked not to smoke in business's.

No matter what, gays will hate me, whether I hate them or not. Except for people like Outright Libertarians, the only LGBT organization I support

I read that article last night. Another liberal professor responded with this: http://www.vox.com/2015/6/5/8736591/liberal-professor-identity

The professor in the first article is just being paranoid that college students are generally social justice warriors out to get him. He even said it himself that he's only gotten a single complaint from a student years ago and it wasn't even taken seriously. If he's so afraid of getting in trouble that he has to censor his own work, it's a problem with his employers(the college), not students. Maybe he just had the bad luck of getting stuck with the few classes that would find his lessons offensive. He can't complain saying that all college students are like that.

"Since being in a same-sex relationship(gay) is a choice". I can see why you might offend them tbh. I think there is a difference in saying things that might offend someone vs saying things that will definitely offend someone. Your's might be the latter, so it might not be the best comparison imo.
