I reckon there are more anime fan hip hop heads than people think. But i get the impression that more anime fans like metal n stuff. Also it would seem that many anime fans think that they are too intelligent to listen to rap or something? Like they act like hypocrites in a way without realizing.
By that i mean they treat hip hop/rap in the same way that they dont like people treating (or juding them for liking) anime. And by that i mean juding it without actually hearing any of it that wasn't some whack shit on the radio/saying its all the same or stupid or etc,

But i think theres also the factor that alot of people that listen to rap might think they are too "cool" to watch anime lol. Some people are pretty closed minded.

Their loss, I've grown quite tired of trying to defend rap from blatant ignorance.

It's funny, there are actually quite a few rappers with at least some degree of interest in Japanese animation. I mean look at Lupe Fiasco (dude only HAS a song called Mazinger), look at RZA's involvement with Afro Samurai, Del tha Funkee Homosapien, Nas, etc.

I probably just have my rappers mixed up.
But even taking Nas off the list, there's still:

Kendrick Lamar, Kanye West, MF Doom, Chance the Rapper, etc.

I love rap. Tyler the Creator, Kendrick Lamar ,Chief Keef, and Logic are my absolute favorite rappers.

I also love jazz; Bob Acri being the main artist I listen to.

Keef? "Send that bitch emojis" Keef?

I listened to the Chiraq mixtape. The two things that stood out to me the most were the fact that an obviously white guy was yelling a canned "REAL TRAP SHIT N******" and Keef singing "Send that bitch Emojis"

Keef strikes me as kind of the ASAP Rocky type who is a passible rapper who banks on having really solid beats. It works with Rocky for me but no with Keef.

Lupe fiasco also started his breakout verse on Touch the Sky with the line "Guess whose on third, Lupe steal like Lupin the Third"

depends on my mood but it feels pretty awkward for a white girl like myself to listen to certain rap songs...

If people had a understanding of past music they would have a greater appreciation and understanding of the Rap genre to better understand any genre you have to have a deep understanding of its influences only then would they have an appreciation of that genre. Artists like Marvin Gaye, Parliament-Funkadelic and Zapp influenced rappers like 2pac, Biggie and Too $hort who in turned inspired the likes of Lil Boosie, Future and Kendrick Lamar.
