What do you like to do when you're feeling down?
Posted 6/9/15 , edited 6/9/15
We've all been sad. We've all been down in the dumps because of something that happened today or the other day.
What do you do about it?
How do you make yourself feel better?

As someone who is diagnosed with Major Depressive Disorder, its kinda hard. I usually do things that distracts me from the depressing/sad thoughts, that end up making me feel worse if i dont do so tbh. So, I rarely ever actually make myself feel better most of the time. I don't like asking for help either. lol
What I do is do the things I enjoy & keep me busy. Like playing video games, reading, sleeping, having conversations with other people, watching anime, maybe even draw.

So how about you guys?

I may lay around like a dirty old bum until I lift out of a funk.

I may also just enjoy a hobby. Going outside for a walk is very effective.

I really like to play guitar and write music. Especially if I'm feeling like down.. I remember when i found out my ex (at the time she was my girl friend) cheated on me.. I wrote some really awesome stuff. In a way that taught me to tap into a deeper place come up with some awesome music. In the end, I really should thank her for it. But yeah dude if you're ever feeling down and you need someone to talk to, don't hesitate to send me a message!!

I'll watch anime or something on TV like M*A*S*H or some other old show. Maybe I'll watch an old movie that I liked or found to be inspiring.
I've been a little out of sorts lately and I watched Space Battleship Yamato 2199, a good remake of an old TV show, it was useful.
Sometimes I'll write something, like a journal.
Other times I'll talk to someone in my family.

Listen to Linkin Park's "In The End" on repeat to get out all my angst. Cause you know in the end it doesn't even matter.

I either take a nap, play some games, watch some shows either on here, netflix, or youtube, or if none of those are available I just force myself to smile and pretend like I'm not upset about anything and sometimes it ends up working.

I listen to fast-paced angry music; both happy or sad music hits me hard while angry music just gets my mind wandering. It's also the best time for me to get writing, whether on my fan-fics or my own original projects. The third option is classic comedy. Usually, Abbott and Costello or The Bowery Boys does it for me.

I have depression as well. And honestly, I usually just sleep it off. But I try to do others things to distract myself, like talking to people; especially ones who I know can cheer me up. Painting and listening to music is very therapeutic for me, as well. ESPECIALLY if I'm having a panic attack.

But nothin' can cure my blues like slipping out of conciousness for a while.

A good long walk pulls my thoughts towards a fresh perspective. And if it aint this, its either added reps in the gym, or keepin' myself occupied with work.

I mostly listen to music but going outside for a bit usually helps cheer me up a bit.
