Music. I tend to listen to Slints spiderland when im sad.

Back when I went through a period of depression in 7-8th grade I played alot of videogames to help me cope.

Depression bites. Anything but sleep, sometimes my worries drag themselves into my dreams, happened a week ago actually.

Anime & talking to friends is good, but nothing better than video games. The more competitive and rage inducing the better. Getting mad or super focused on a game is the best way to take my mind off of it.

A smoke would always lift my mood but only temporary. I know it's not exactly the *healthiest* option but it's sure as hell beats trying to stay *positive*...

A bit of alcohol usually helps. Getting some exercise sometimes works, too. Sleep is also helpful.

Music is nice but it tends to amplify whatever mood I am feeling. I tend to like calm or melodic music and that can easily make me feel even more down.

I've got that good ol' Mania (and all the psychosis that come with it), so sometimes it can be really hard to get out of the dumps. Especially if I'm there because my idiot self decided it'd be a great idea to go dumpster diving.

Since it's a hereditary mess, most of my family has it as well, and we all deal with the dumps differently. My grandfather has been known to hop in the car and drive somewhere, because he gets depressed about not being able to do things he used to do and driving is almost all that's left. My grandmother resorts to watching Hallmark movies and other Nicholas Sparks-esque movies. My mum goes to the tanning bed or shopping with her friend. My twin sister reads classical novels or listens to angsty music. My little sister goes to sporting events. I either go exploring or paint/film/otherwise create something.

Whatever gets those Endorphins, Serotonins, Oxytocins, and Dopamines going.

Walks, writing and tea are the best ways to snap me out of a funk. If all else fails though, a friend of nearly 20 years and I will go tear up the bar scene on a Saturday night. Surefire, though expensive way to get back into the norm of things.

I don't suffer from depression.I either rationalize a way to deal with the problem or I say "screw it" and move on if I can't.

Music and gaming are a a great distraction but when I need to really think about the exact reason I am feeling down and if there is anything I can do at the moment to help or if it is just to wait and see what happens kind of thing, I really prefer to meditate on the matter for a bit and reorganize my thoughts, and reroute some irrationality behind what is bothering me...

My suggestion to people who havent tried to meditate is to give it a shot every day for a short period of time.. it may help some people

Try not to think about the thing that's making me feel down by watching YouTube videos and listening to some music. The problem is, when there's something like that, it's not easy not to think about it. ^^

I also use distrctions; anime, tv-shows and gaming. But what helps me the most is to spend time with people I hold dear - They can provide comfort and support.
