Any CGDCT with older characters?
Posted 6/9/15
Hmm, to be honest, i'm not expecting much of an answer here, but I figured i'd toss the question out there in case an example actually exists.

Essentially, I love stuff like Kinmoza, Gochiusa, Yuyushiki, Lucky Star, K-On!, etc.... However, I can't say that i've ever seen one that had.... well.... women instead of girls. So I got curious and started wondering if such a thing even existed (as i'd really like to watch something like that).

So, on the off chance anyone knows, i'm looking for recommendations for slice of life shows about nothing that follow the antics of a group of older women. "Older" here basically meaning anything out of high school.

Or, heck, if you have an example with guys then that works too. Like and older version of Kimi to Boku or Daily Lives of High School Boys

If you know of any, then thanks a million! But as I said, i'm not really getting my hopes up for a response lol.

It has a mixed gender cast, but otherwise Maison Ikkoku should fit the bill nicely

There's also Nana(but be warned, it has the worst ending ever created)

We Without Wings is about the daily life of a group of people living in the big city.

Golden Time is a slice of life love story about college students.

Tamayura WAS about a group of high school girls trying to find their paths in life. Now, after graduation the next series will be told in 4 cinematic anime films about their lives after high school is over.

Ok, what does CGDCT stand for?

If you don't mind series that have a lot of angst, then Rumbling Hearts may work here. The first few episodes show the high school life of a group of friends (boys and girls) while the rest of the series takes place a few years later as the characters try to deal with the consequences of a particularly nasty incident.

There are some other series I know with older characters but there are other themes mixed in with the drama such as sci-fi, combat and harem-comedy. Are you interested in those or are you just wanting real world drama?

Ah My Goddess might be exactly what you are looking for; especially as it goes along and more goddesses (and other women) are introduced into the story.

I agree with Zoltor that you should give MI a try. You can also try Kawaii Complex Guide; it's clearly inspired by MI and also has a lot of antics by older women.

I Can't Understand What My Husband Is Saying focuses on the antics of a 20-something married couple--it's short form, but hilarious, and a lot of the comedy does come from the antics of the wife.

Arakawa Under the Bridge is a slice of life about a wacky commune; almost all of them are adults, and they are mixed gender (though they lean male).

Most of Chobits is about a female android (who looks like a young woman) doing cute things--and the college student who takes her in.

Hmm, thanks for all the answers, guys!

Some of these I've seen, but many of them I haven't, so I'll definitely be giving a lot of them a try.

However, two key component of CGDCT (to me personally) are
1) Lack of drama
2) Lack of romance
They tend to focus on just lighthearted fun without anything deeper.

That being said, while I have seen stuff like Nana, Arakawa Under the Bridge, Golden Time, etc, they all have a heavy focus on romance, whereas i'm looking for almost literally "a show about nothing". Arakawa is somewhat close to what i'm looking for though.

But like I said, i'm still grateful for these responses and am eager to try a few of these out - like Maison Ikkoku, Tamayura, and perhaps Rumbling Hearts.

Ah ok, never seen someone abbreviate it(thought you just fell asleep on your keyboard).

Spirited away=enough said.

Kemono no souja is a hardcore drama anime, but there's quite a bit of the cute girl doing cute things going on in this, and really if people want to claim to have seen great anime, this is a have to watch anime.

Older characters; females acting cute; light on drama or romance. Okay, I can work with that.

Hyper Police is the first that springs to mind. It is a comedy police show set in the near future where animal-people outnumber humans (the main character is a clumsy catgirl). There is some very light romantic and dramatic elements at times but the only times it ever gets deep is in the build up to a joke.

Also, if you don't mind surreal-to-the-point-of-insane series you could check out Excel Saga. It flows like the twisted imaginings of a drug addict but there are plenty of cute adults and the plot never stays still long enough to have depth.

Oh yea, forgot there's always Sakurasou no Pet na Kanojo

It's labeled a romance, but It's nothing of the sort(because JC made it=enough said), and there really is no story to speak of.
