Whether Attack on Titan is really good or not is debatable. Personally, I felt that Attack on Titan was rather average. Worth watching if you have nothing better to do. But certainly not good by any means. Eren is a boring protagonist. He's op for no reason, arrogant, self-centered and very much a loner who wants to do everything by himself. The biggest issue with Attack on Titan, though, is that it ends rather abruptly without any closure for the season and with no season 2 as of yet the only way to continue the series would be via the manga.

I would say give it a shot. It is well worth it.

AoT is not
The greatest anime ever
A masterpiece

AoT IS:
A good anime with a good story
Side characters are actually made interesting
Filled with lots of good action

BTW: I have been accused of hating an anime because it's popular , so keep that in mind when I say AoT is worth watching. And AoT IS popular!

Eren isn't OP though. He is noticeably weaker than the female Titan. Even in Titan form he's probably weaker than Levi and Mikasa. Eren is in most cases a damsel in distress. In fact I would say he is probably the weakest shonen protagonist I have ever come across.

Considering the series as a whole, I would actually attribute the most victories in the series to 1)Armin, 2)Erwin, 3)Levi, 4)Mikasa, 5)Eren. Armin really comes through as a strategist.

The show is not excellent or bad by any means. I'll describe it as decent. When the show has its action moments, it is some of the most "hypest" and thrilling scenes in recent anime history. Of course, the show doesn't consist of only high quality action scenes and that is where the show slows down. The pacing of this show is inconsistent where we would have a string of action packed episodes to a string of episodes filled with exposition. The problem with this show is the fact that the action scenes are so good and intense that you expect it every episode and when it doesn't do that, you are just left waiting until the show picks up again which can take several episodes. Also, Eren, the main character, isn't the most developed character thus making him really one dimensional. If you want extremely intense and "hype" scenes, this show is going to bring it. Just don't expect the most enthralling characters or story.

Also take into account that Studio Wit had some production issues during the season, which is why you see extreme close ups , or still frames with voice overs and a recap of the main premise at the beginning of every episode and a total recap episode..

This is seriously the best assessment / review I've seen of this show

I just finished it last night. I like alot of action anime's but my favorites are love stories. lol Anyway's, I thought it was pretty good. Not my favorite action anime but it was really good. Definitely worth watching, and like buddy said by the end it will leave you wanting more. I was just looking on google of when the second season is suppose to start/come out. Said 2016, bummer......

Well you should judge it yourself, 3-5 episodes won't hurt.

But Yes is best.

personally no, but you should watch it to see what the hype is about. it's interesting, but you will leave the series most likely going 'this is what everyone is raving about?' over all it's ok, but in a series with less than 30 episodes i wound up skipping two recap episodes, if that gives you an idea of what you're in for.

I tried it and quite honestly I couldn't understand why everyone was so mad for it. As far as I could tell it was distinctly below average.

It was pretty good.

I enjoyed it. It was over hyped yes, and because of that you have the standard people who hate it for some random reason because it wasn't "2deep4u".

It was an enjoyable ride from start to finish; it probably wont give you much in the way of a deep plot, but it was very enjoyable. The action scenes were an Adrenalin rush and Eren basically started a new wave of edgy MC's that were edgy for the sake of edge (eren was actually a pretty enjoyable MC, was nice to see someone who wasn't a pussy from day one).
