Valkyria Chronicles.

Good mix of action, romance, and character drama, in a unique (for anime, anyway) setting. But I guess because you have to watch it on Crackle, it seems almost no one has seen it. (Although I do hear people sometimes refer to the game it was based on.)

I haven't seen enough of the show to know why game fans rail against the anime adaptation, but it's good quality either way, and, like the Animax "Nodame Cantabile" dub, WAY too good to be stuck on Crackhouse...er, Crackle , just because of some Sony rights entanglements.

Of the current CR offerings, I don't know why I like Amagi Brilliant Park, I just do.

Game is much, much, better.

They make Welkin into a huge pussy in the anime. Aside from the fact that the characters in the game are better handled, you also get full insight into all the battles, get to enjoy one of the most unique turn-based strategy games out there, get more of the story of the world, the anime really is a downgrade from the game. If you know of the game, then you don't need to know that the anime exists.

The anime series Legend of the Galactic Heroes is one of, if not the, most underrated anime outside of Japan. I love the storyline elements of history, philosophy, morality, politics, and ambition combined with the realism. The wide variety of POV characters gives the viewer an added insight into the storyline, in a way its like George R. Martins's "A song of Ice and Fire", without the fantasy elements of course. LOGH is truly one of the greatest anime series of all time.

Oh, we know about it (from back in the days when you "had to watch" anything Pioneer was putting on the first few DVD's), we've just don't have as much reason to talk about it.
The gratuitously artsy attempt for the Fruit Baskets/Kodocha director to tackle SERIOUS IMPORTANT DOWNBEAT THEMES, and like most light directors experimenting with "heavy" (ahemprincessmononoke), way, wayyy overdoing it.
Now, if you want to talk about overlooked Akitaro Daichi, does anyone still remember Elf Princess Rane?

As for me, I refuse to admit that Urusei Yatsura is on the "forgotten" list, just because a lot of kids can't find the disks anymore, or take one look at the crappy hideous first season and say "Eww, it looks so 80's, kill it with a baseball bat!" (Or worse, say "From the creator of Inu-Yasha!"...That's what hurts. )
But if another poster can mention xxxHolic, just because the disks have long since gone to S.A.V.E. collections, I've got nothing to worry about.

Special Duty Combat Unit Shinesman - it's a 2 episode OVA which playfully mocks the Sentai genre. It's a fun, albeit short, watch. And the dubbed version, is worth watching. Yes, seriously.

I absolutely agree that the game is better; that's the best game I've played in the last year, easily. But the anime is still quite good, in my opinion.

Besides, there are a lot of people who won't play the game (either because they don't play games at all, or they don't like turn-based strategy games) who would still enjoy the anime quite a bit.

Lively 90's anime like Kodocha and Hare+Guu always seem to be overlooked these days. I always feel obligated to mention Tatami Galaxy on these threads as well.

I guess. But after you have experienced game Welkin, Anime Welkin just pisses you off.
