Majin Tantei Nougami Neuro - Demon that eats mysteries uses a young girl to solve crimes by promising to solve the mystery of her father's murder. It is a weird mix of comedy and drama that flows quite well, although it does differ from the manga as it gets to the end.

I saw you earlier in a post, I remember all people with a Another avii. Glad to finally talk to you. Yeah, Another is most definetly my favorite series. I'm the crazy one who is obsessed like crazy on it though. (Like really...you can look at forums I post on and they most likely will all be about suggesting Another or about Mei Misaki) o_o.

Baccano! is an amazing anime that is severely overlooked. Also, not enough people know about the heartfelt movie Wolf Children.

The movies You Are Umasou and Majocco Shimai Yoyo to Nene are really good ones that I almost never hear anybody talk about. Seirei no Moribito is a borderline masterpiece and I don't really know why it isn't more popular. Bungaku Shoujo is also really good, as I remember (it's been a while), and I don't think I've ever come across another human being who's even heard of it.

Wasn't that the manga Matsui Yuusei wrote before he did Assassination Classroom?

Wolf Children - I don't see this one pop up in conversation a whole lot. Here and there? Sure, but not much. It's about a mother and the struggles she faces to raise her two children who are part wolf and part human after she hit it off with a guy who could also become a wolf. I liked the characters, and the animation is very nice, too (though it is a movie, after all).

Ergo Proxy - Most people get put off this one because the aesthetic is different to most anime, but don't let that put you off (I love it, personally). It's hard to sum up and late at night where I am, so apologies for not being able to sum it up well. There's a good show in there though, and if nothing else the OP song is great.

Speed Grapher - I always bring this one up when I get the opportunity. I saw it in some guy's obscure anime recommendations list and that's the last time I've seen it come up. This is about a war photographer having to keep a girl safe. Why? Her saliva gives people powers relating to their fetishes, so you can imagine she's quite important to a few people. It sounds mental, and it sort of is, also practically everyone's a piece of shit and it's not afraid to get a little freaky here and there, but I enjoyed it. Not for the faint of heart, I'll say that.

Full Metal Panic - Maybe it's well known, I don't know, but the fact it didn't get another season after Second Raid tells me it wasn't well known enough. Maybe it's my nostalgia talking but I liked this show. It's got mechs and school stuff in, so I wasn't sure how much I'd like it but I did. It's about a teenage boy sent to protect a schoolgirl. However, trained as a child soldier he's not quite your average teenage boy. It's a bit jarring with how it works though. The first season was a blend of seriousness and comedy. The spinoff 'Fumoffu' was a very funny spinoff series focussing on the comedy and school life more. The third season, 'Second Raid', was a more serious season that dropped the comedy and went a lot darker. Still I love it all.

So yeah, not a whole bunch is flying into my mind right now but I tried to mix it up so there's hopefully something in there you'll like.

It was decent but I would have enjoyed it more if I didn't hate the MC.

I would say Crest/Banner of the stars and The 12 Kingdoms

I'd say it's more like a hidden diamond bullet. It's definitely well written, but it hurts to watch it. It's such a tragedy that even the fact that it doesn't end tragically doesn't make up for the shit that happens during it.

It's definitely an anime that I will only watch once, and no more.

What about Nichijou? Not many seem to talk about despite being a great comedy.

Pilot's Love Song

The show had a lot of problems, but it was so interesting. The setting alone I think makes it worth a watch. One of the most unique settings I've seen in an anime, I'm serious.

Planes x strange fantasy world. Very, very interesting.

Birdy the Mighty: Decode.
If you want Code Geass style punches to the emotions (with waayy less characters and complicated plot stuff, though. btw - same writer and director as Akito the Exiled)

And I feel like I don't want to call this unknown because it's recent, but I never hear people bring it up, so I'll say it - Outbreak Company. It's a similar sort of referency-humor as Inou Battle in the Everyday Life, but it has some really great emotional parts too (the hikkikomori episode, I think it's episode 8... yeah, great characters). And given my tastes and who my favorite characters in all of anime are, how could I not love Galius? (see ep 4 eyecatch).

I will also vote for Birdy the Mighty. Just finished last night really like format also 12 episode season one then epilog to close lose end and then season 2 sounds simple but this formula isn't practiced much no loose ends kinda nice besides great story
