Because metrosexual men sweating and throwing balls at each other.

That might be a reason why yaoi fangirls would watch them, but they aren't the only audience by any means.

Um...

...assembling a good yaoi pairing with this one's going to be kind of tough. You're pretty much limited to Seishiro x Hiroki or some combination of one of those two with coach Kido, the brown nose assistant principal (did he even have a name?), or principal Mita. Not exactly an exciting yaoi roster, I'd wager. One hell of a yuri roster, though.

Most sport shows are supported by female otaku, that is a fact, but it's not like men can't enjoy them as well.

Anyway, shows/manga like Kuroko, Haikyuu!!, and Prince of Tennis all have a huge female fanbase and they are the main buying power despite that they're in 'shonen' magazines. They may be 'aimed' at men, but women are for the most part buying and supporting it. Just because they're the majority though doesn't mean they are the only people who enjoy the genre.

Lots of guys like sports anime and even girls that watch sports anime for the hot, sweaty men are watching it because the men are hot and sweaty. That doesn't mean they necessarily want to see them go at it.

There is actual yaoi out there. I presume most "yaoi fangirls" would go straight to that instead of wasting their time with sports anime.

That's definitely not true: both men and women watch sports anime. I don't know why you think otherwise if you could see in this website people of both gender talking about the sports anime they like.

By the way, I'm a woman and I like some sports anime, but I don't watch them because of the "yaoi". Actually, I don't like yaoi in the first place.

I've read the manga a few years back.

Of course, my most was half-ironic.
