I started looking at porn at a very young age, around 12 or 13. Of course, 30 years ago that meant sneaking a peek at an issue of Playboy that you found in your dad's desk. It's a far cry from the hardcore pornography that is available with almost no effort required to find.

I don't think there is any problem with an adolescent enjoying the beauty of the naked human form. However, watching hardcore pornography can give a distorted view of sex and intimacy; which could cause some kids to have trouble developing mature intimate relationships.

Very similar to how I was introduced.

I definitely agree to this, hardcore pornography can definitely cause a distortion on what sex should be about. Hardcore pornography is pretty unrealistic and sometimes disturbing, with so many different types of porn out there, a child may recognize it as being normal and develop either a dependency or a try to re-enact it once they start having sex... If he/she for some reason finds the wrong type of pornography interesting this could create a huge issue not only with the relationship but with the law as well.

It all comes down to the parent, and teaching kids right and wrong. I introduced my children to the internet at an early age, I monitor them and if they find something "weird" I have them ask me about it. I rather them ask me about "he what is a *******" then finding out and interpreting it themselves.

You can answer questions about it.

Teenagers will go to lengths to cure their curiosity, it is better to be a good resource than an ignorant parent. (I am not implying this towards anyone.)

Depends on the maturity and personality of the kid, I guess. I doubt they'd be trying that with others. In what way could it damage them?

I actually couldn't watch porn until I finally got a high speed internet connection years after I reached puberty. Man those rough days...
...anyway when I was 18, fed up with women, and accepted that I will die a virgin I started doing what all my peers had been doing for years and I have to say its pretty great. Porn is great. Works out my stress at the end of the day, fulfills the natural biological programming that goes unanswered, and best of all no fear of STD's.
If kids have access to porn in some manner they are going to get it no matter what. Has nothing to do with parenting. It just human biology. When there is a desire we are going to act on it or in this case improvise however we can be it magazines, internet, or just our own damn imagination!

I see. I guess I should educate myself on this topic before making such statements. I don't even know what kind of porn there is.

Kid, those are two very different things. And I never seen anybody listing to the age of consent.

I would recommend watching this granted it a year old but I remember seeing this on the news when it happened. There are dangers especially if the kids don't understand the subject matter.

Probably not to be honest, well at least on the stand point of a false image of how sex usually goes in the bedroom, it can bring about alot of insecurities, misconceptions and a whole lot of confusion, at least if your watching some of the more unsavory stuff. I think it can be better if the child at least talks to someone about it since it would make things go smoother, also from what I've seen it can be quite addictive so overall no, but I'm not going to stop anyone if they want to.

This is somewhat true, but it ALWAYS has something to do with the parenting of the child. If you don't help your child understand what is OK and what is not, it can cause a lot of issues. Lets say Johnny has parents who completely ignore him, he is a shut in, doesn't play outside, just on the internet all the time. He finds a porn site by accident, it is a aggressive/violent porn site. Johnny sees sex for the first time as being a violent act of aggression towards a partner, he doesn't ask his parents about it as they do not care what he is exposed to ect, and do not care to explain things that should be talked about prior to them actually happening. Johnny grows up with this idea, finally makes a girlfriend and re-enacts what he sees. This causes his girlfriend to leave him and ruin his relationship possibly scarring his girlfriend in the process (If she was a virgin). For him and her this could lead to depression which in turn could lead to suicide. Of course this is a "Worst Case" scenario, but you get the idea.

I have seen the worst of humankind on the internet, I overly exposed myself to some horrific things. I once watched a 2 hour long video of nothing but people being killed ect, however I did this as an adult to numb myself and have a better understanding of what does and can happen in this world, and death/murder is not the worst that can happen to someone. (Sounds crazy, I know. Please don't bias me off of this.)

The law is just for show. Nobody actually cares for it.

I remember one my distant cousin who is a 7 year old talking to me about sex. I don't even know how he knows that. Since his family is very religious. Seriously that came from leftfield
