Anime soothed the savage beast and I can say that almost literally. I am a very angry person. I have been for a long time and at times when I was younger that anger led to physical violence. I won't go into the why's or how's of my anger but the things that drive it have been for a long time and probably will always be present in my life, they are the common denominator. The thing that crept into my life and changed it so significantly is anime. I don't know how to even really describe it. My starting to watch anime corresponds exactly with the cessation of my use of physical violence. Like I wrote earlier, I can't really describe why it is but it is. If not for this change I probably would have really and seriously hurt someone and most likely have been in jail. I am still an angry person, and it is one of the biggest reasons that I will never be in a relationship with someone but I haven't been or even had to restrain myself from being violent for about 15 years.

Reading visual novels (Mainly FSN and Clannad) made me realize how much I'm missing out in real life. So yes Anime has compelled me to change my habits and life style. ^ _ ^

Anime has taught me to accept myself. To enjoy life. To follow your dreams.

To go on an epic adventure.

I've said this previously, but Welcome to the NHK and Golden Time have both been very influential on me as an individual. They're different, but both of them have inspired me in a similar way. I live a very secluded life, and I hate it because I want to be social, but I'm just never around people.

What I took away from Welcome to the NHK is that there's more to life than sitting at home watching anime and playing video games, and that really motivated me to get up and do something with my life. I haven't done much, but I'm always working on it. I decided to send some of my previous work to a website and they let me write for them. Now I'm going to Anime Expo, so hopefully I can meet some people.

It's a similar thing with Golden Time, really. It's a completely different scenario, but to me, it really highlights that anything can happen in life and that you can only experience that by going out and doing things. It really puts things into perspective and it made me want to make changes in my life.

It's gonna be a long time before I get to where I want to be, maybe years, I honestly haven't made as many changes as I would like to. I'm definitely in a much better place than I was a few years ago, though, that's for sure. At some point I'd like to go to college and get a proper education, which is something that I haven't done yet.
