Is there a limit? I see people use the terms "casual" and "diehard" but is there a limit to how much you can be enveloped into something?

It's a hobby. I have other hobbies, and it's the same as those.

I like anime/manga, but I also like music, sports. If you have only one hobby, it's detrimental. You're limiting yourself. It's better to have different hobbies you like than one that you engross yourself in.

I would say do what interests you, but if becomes unhealthy and unbalanced then you should probably try a different route.
I've watched over 900, I'm extremely obsessed, but I managed to balance it with my life and other hobbies.

There are different levels of balance too. What might work for some people might not for others but if you can balance your hobby with the rest of your life and your other hobbies then there's no problem. Hobbies are luxuries though and so ideally they shouldn't override necessities. Well being should always take priority. Generally speaking I suppose.

I consider myself at the border between Diehard Anime fan and Anime Otaku. I'll buy DVDs/BDs (As long as they're reasonable like 12-14 count per set around $20-$55) but I won't buy figurines, drama CDs, limited edition copies, etc... I'm an Anime Fan, not an Anime Otaku.

I never thought I would become an anime fan but the addiction grows with each series I finish.

Yes. The limit is whatever results in your demise. After you are dead you cannot logically be an anime fan any more.

The more of an anime fan you are, the closer you become to no longer being considered a respected member of society.

Diehard/Casual, Nerd/Jock, Hardcore/Care-bear...they're all just labels put on you to make the label-granter seem more important in his/her own eyes. I just refer to them as what they are, other people with the same hobbies or likes as me that choose to enjoy them in their own way. Whether someone likes ecchi, harem, shounen, shoujo (or even hentai). they're just a fellow anime fan no matter how much they watch.

The limit is when you find yourself broke and desperately clinging to your body pillow as the debt collectors come and take everything away.
