Now I wear khakis and white T shirts. I get my hair cut every few weeks. I keep a neat goatee if I'm not totally clean shaven, and I listen to music so sweet it'll give you diabetes.

I've sold out.

When did you realize you sold out? You're an adult, and have to be one. Or have you not sold out yet? Or maybe it's better to call it maturing? Or getting older?

Holyyyyyyyy f**********king sh********tttttttt. I was just playing Skull F**ked earlier today to show my girlfriend some of the harder things out there and other things i liked in general. I will absolutely NOT call it sold out though. I FIRMLY believe you sell out when you do something you actually DON'T like, but do it ONLY because it's what's trending/popular. YOU doing what YOU like, because YOU like it REGARDLESS of what it is popular(e.g. watching anime), is FARRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR from selling out. So double check who YOU are as a person, what YOU like, andf if you do anything ourside of THOSE bounds, then, and only then, are you selling out. So keep true to yourself. Once you go against what you actually feel, then your selling out yourself to no one except yourself

I've never sold out, I think. I've always done what I wanted without thinking of what society dictates. But the fact is that my wants and likes are not that different from everyone else's.

Since I'm not from the USA nor have I ever lived there, I haven't had any life style that could be considered sold in or sold out. I've had some adult responsibilities from a young age. I've been fully aware of politics and economics including how it pertains to daily living from a young age too. Yes I was able to think about how my family used religious conservatism to help raise the youngsters. Yes I'm aware of choices within different frameworks or without. I thought that listening to certain music, dressing certain ways just to show rebellion is all posturing and a waste of time. That's just having an alternative form of conformity, swapping one uniform for another. Another delusion.

As an artist, it's really tough to succeed unless you do such.
Last year, I chose to draw nsfw stuff in which I have gotten more attention to the public eye, while losing a slight chunk (25%) of my demographic for it as a result.
For as an artist, if things do not go the way you want, you must make some changes.

To me, the above is selling out.
Do I regret it? Of course not.
Do I wish I did not have to resort to that? Absolutely.

After the last thread was troll-busted, they seem to be staging a rebellious last-ditch rally:
"We OWN your @$$es! We can turn any thread into a religion/atheist thread, because you'll always fall for it! Don't think you can turn snobs and run away from us!"

Either that, or "C'mon, can't we do just one more? It's too dull just sitting around not talking about my own athie issues!"

No, if you'd "sold out" to the establishment, you wouldn't be thinking "I'm not voting for John Kerry, he's too boring!"

Then again, if you hadn't become your parents yet, you probably wouldn't be voting at all.

Lets see, I am 41 with a college degree, a wife and I have 2 boys ages 11 + 14. I have a white collar job that pays a very good salary, but I wear jeans and a shirt everyday at work while my coworkers do not (I pity them). My current PC background screen at work has the cast of Soul Eater and on my lunch hour I can be found playing video games on my 3DS or PS Vita.

At home my boys would rather be in my office then in their own rooms because that is where the good stuff is. Nightly anime from 7-9:00pm then video games till bedtime.

I will let you all know when I decide to grow up

interesting question. The answer surprised me more than I thought it would.

It's more complex than this but in one specific way (my gender) I've been selling out since my earliest memories and only now have become myself.

As I said it's complex. So... as to maturity it's been a gradual and subtle thing. I look back about 10 years at any given age and think "I was such a child"
