I'm surprised nobody has talked about watching Robotech on TV yet...

Also I can't be the only one that used to attack the local Suncoast trolling for anime back in the day. As for favs, anime I watch....

@VZ68 I'm with you, watched Robotech on TV when it had UHF and rabbit ears. It's so funny you mentioned Suncoast because the very last one just closed earlier this year along with The Wherehouse right after. haha

Do you remember going to anime clubs with your VCR and record fansubs from the main source while watching it? That's what we did over at No Name Anime.

That wasn't around me at all. I had to watch uphill both ways in the snow in 105F weather to get my anime, 5 miles there, 15 miles back!

The Hansel and Gretel arc of Black Lagoon is almost too much.

"Almost" is the operative word there XD

I think Hiroe offered enough character stuff to justify the shock value. I was genuinely sad for Rock when he realized there was nothing he could do to save the surviving twin.

Yeah, they try to keep Rock in the twilight, but I wonder if they did that to show Rock that there people who are really better off dead...

Anime was a struggle back in the early-mid 90s. 30min legal anime was $30-35 and finding a quality open fansub group in a sea of Geocities pages on dial-up was not fun. Sending or buying blank SVHS to be recorded with glorious unlicensed anime took work!

Kids have it easy these days.

And not only did you have to hope Suncoast got the next two eps of what you where watching in, but you also had to hope that it matched your last tape (subs or dubs)

I really wish nowadays that I had first discovered anime when I was much younger instead of only after I'd not long turned 18, but meh, better late than never I guess!

IMHO, I am quite suprised about the age diversity of this forum. Good to see those old useless taboos go in the bin, yes you can be 40+ and still play videogames and watch anime. Love to see the day when we tell our grandchildren "Back in my day we had to make do with 151 Pokemons and we had to watch anime on a screen." and they will shudder in horror and disbelief over "the dark ages".

M first introduction to anime, I believe I was between 5-7 years old, with an older brother bringing titles into the house such as Akira and Ninja Scroll, man were we glad our parents never wanted to sit with us and watch them, they thought they were just cartoons, man were they wrong haha.
