I don't understand why some people consider lust a sin. I don't think it is a sin.

Lust is just an emotion, like many other of the supposed seven deadly sins. You won't find a person alive without at least a little lust in their heart nor a little greed or envy (if even 1%). The seven deadly sins weren't created by any God but a long dead Stephen King predecessor out to scare the World straight into the image he believed in.

Actually it is. Sin is a religious term, more specifically a Christian term. Sin really has no meaning outside of a religious context. Therefore since lust is a sin under religious context, and the term sin is meaningless outside of a religious context, then lust is always a sin.

Now if you asked whether lust was destructive. Just like any of the other 7 Deadly Sins, it is without moderation.

I think that the worst sin is actually Pride. At its best Pride is a motivator, at its worst it makes people do really stupid things for no other reason than because an irrational emotion compels them to. Lust is at least compelling one to reproduce.

Anything carried to excess is bad. Drinking, drugs, sex, food. You name it. We're taught to realize that suffering comes from these behaviors, and thus, the elimination of them is best. There are divisions in Buddhism on alcohol; some allow it, some don't. All are united in the idea that drunkeness is drunkeness. Pride is a feeling of mastery, which is difficult to attain. If it is not misplaced, it can strengthen an individual. Too often, though, it is misplaced, and pride is nothing more than a shadow of mastery, quick to evaporate when tested.

If you're not hurting anyone, who cares? Something being a sin just means you suscribe to the idea of the big floating head in the sky looking down and judging us all on a book that was written by some dudes ages ago.

C'mon, enough with the preliminaries, I wanna see the big Desu vs. Silver cage match!
Two desperately deadpan-contrived attention-whores enter, one leaves...Boys and girls, dyin' time's here!

"Do we really need feet?"
"Shouldn't we kill off everyone over the age of seven?"
"Why won't my landlord let me keep a Bengal tiger in my apartment?"
"Should all transgendered people be automatically named 'Helen'?"
"Was Hitler really a time-traveling robot?"
"It's true--Ancient cultures worshipped ham...Discuss!"
"The Old Testament was originally written on ham! Completely violating kosher law!"
"Chainsaws--Fun for the elderly!"

(Oops, sorry, now I'm starting to crib that SNL sketch with Dan Aykroyd as the desperate talk-radio host, better stop before I get a lawsuit.)

Yes, technically it's a Sin. One of the Seven Deadly Ones, even. Whether or not you believe that bs is entirely up to you, though.

Nothings a sin if you don't give a damn about 'sins' lol.
