it depends. On what your doing "lust" on, if your lusting someone or making them feel sexually attracted to you not on purpose, then its not a really a sin- you're just too beautiful in a way. If you are a lustfull person and enjoy having sex with different types of people, then that IS a sin. Because sooner or later, you're gonna end up making somebody mad and kill you and or catching some dangerous disease.

I believe so but my viewpoint on sin is different than the typical perspective.

Lust itself is perfectly fine and there's nothing malicious or sinful about it. However, it becomes a sin when taken to its extreme at the expense of others. Desire is fine but desire that doesn't respect the wishes and rights of the person it targets is what I'd consider a sin. If your romantic and/or sexual feelings about a person aren't requited then respect that and move on. As long as you take into consideration the other person's own feelings lust is fine.

Greed is fine until you don't care who you hurt in your pursuit of wealth, pride is fine until you become blind in self-glorification, etc.

Everything in moderation, my friends. Everything in moderation.

(I have a feeling that advice is going to fall on deaf ears with the OP....It's just not how he rolls.
If the OP could even spell "Everything in moderation", this forum would a be lot easier.

And me, the thread's got me thinking "Moderation" in quite a different sense of the word.)

A sin in the sense of the "7 Deadly Sins" (TM)

Universal human emotions that can lead a person to ruin and destabilize society if they are allowed to run rampant. The main thrust of most religions is pretty much society/tribal group building and stabilization.

Of course, there are problems when the society that the religion is trying to build doesn't align with reality ...

It corrupts decision making and for people with extreme lust could turn to rape. But lust is natural, it's normal to have it. Not being able to control it is a sin in my opinion.

Well, lust is a bad thing when not restrained and kept under control. It's hard to live without it and stupid to think it's a horrible thing you should never feel, because that means going against your own nature. Pointless, I think. Imagine a human being feeling only lust... Yeah, wouldn't be so neat.

[THEOLOGY LESSON]
Are you a Christian? If so, it is a sin as Jesus says so in Matthew 5:28 (and other areas, but that's the primary text). As I am a Christian, yes - it's a sin.

But, you need to remember what Christ is going for here. He does not say attraction is a sin, He says lust is a sin. Attraction is a natural biological function (ex. that woman is attractive). Lust is that, internally, in action (that woman's so hot, I want to take her now). Lust is the natural progression which can lead to other outward, physical sins - much like other internal sins like jealousy or hatred. Christ, in the Biblical sense, was pointing out that internal feelings are as problematic as acting on them. If I lust after a woman who isn't my wife, that's just as bad as committing adultery because in my heart, I had that desire and internalized it. If you hate someone, you effectively killed them in your heart as if you truly hate & desire negative actions on their life, you killed them to you. In both cases, it's sin.
