That's a bit of a pipe dream. I'd be happy with FFIX at least going up on the Playstation Store for PS4/PS3.

Considering it's arguably one of the best in the series, I still don't see why they haven't ported it to at least the PC like they have with 7/8/13 and others. I can dream I guess...

A couple thoughts. FF7 was a pretty big game, and a remake might cost 5-10X what the PS1 game did. I can't see how there aren't 2-3 parts to this. That is unless Sony is supplying the majority of funding.

The story for FF7 is kind of dated, its going to need some major surgery. Plus the characters need more depth.

That's the thing about remaking games from the 90s.
People (specifically older fans) are gonna end up complaining about the changes in the FF7 remake because of these Major Surguries I bet. Especially if they ever decide to use another director for it. We are like 3 generations too late for a FF7 remake. They'll probably say they can't "relive" the nostolgia, because of these changes.
This is why I thought we don't really need a remake for FF7. SE has tons of money, but if the remake fails kinda like how basically the entire FF13 series failed, I bet they'd lose a lot of money in the process as well as that tiny bit of respect older SE fans have lmao.
It'll probably be Sonic The Hedgehog all over again.

Well then they can just go an play the original one. IMO

I'm actually excited to see if there are any newer or more detailed things that pop up in it. Just like how now expansion packs that allow more detail to games like Dragon Age are accessible. It will be amazing to actually have more story and details rather than dream about it or wonder.

Of course. But they've been demanding the remake for over 10 years now. But are still bound to complain anyway.
And that's why FF7 has all these prequels & sequels to add on to the story but they all kinda sucked. Except for Crisis Core. The only one that was relevant out of all those.

So, are they going to give Tifa unlockable costumes? I'm looking forward to seeing her as a catgirl.

Careful, they might use that as an excuse to throw in DLC.

Pleasantly surprised by the news. I absolutely loved playing FF7 back in the day and I'm glad that that amazing world filled with memorable characters is going to be brought to a new generation of gamers.

I stand by what I have said in various comments about this remake:

With Nomura at the helm instead of Sakaguchi, the game will have no soul.

You don't really have to change the story so much but what needs to be radically changed is the dialoge and character interactions. Some characters need a personality transplant (Barrett so he's not a walking stereotype) and I also think cloud needs to be less brooding and more confident. Angst-y characters are somewhat tolerable when you are reading text but to hear constant brooding when you have voice acting (especially from your MC) is a whole different thing.

I really wanted this 9 years ago. Now I'm not as interested.

I'm honestly sick of Nomura's artstyle and designs. I'm beginning to wonder if he's the only character designer/artist they have in SquEni these days. Even World of FF's protagonists reek of Nomura (the boy looks like Roxas from KH). Looking at DQ and how Akira Toriyama designs characters for every game though, maybe that's what they're going for with FF. I don't like Nomura, but whatever.

And with how the gaming industry is today, I won't be surprised if Vincent, Yuffie, the optional bosses, and the extra outfits are DLC. Hell they might even include microtransactions for Materia.

Despite all these complaints, FFVII means a lot to me. So I'm gonna give it a chance...... Only if there's uncensored Tifa panchira.

All of the DLC and micro-transaction crap have almost completely turned me off of gaming. I have pretty much surrendered to only playing older games after a package deal hits Steam.

I think I am happy with my nostalgic memories of FF7, and would avoid playing a remake.
