As someone who has only played and loved probably the most hated games in the series (XIII) my opinion will probably just get swept under the rug, but my experience as an onlooker to the series is that there is so much elitism when it comes to FF that it's just ridiculous... This game, regardless of whether or no it will be a success, certainly won't help that.

Since it's more or less unanimously deemed as one of the best in the series, and a favourite game amongst many, I don't see why it can't just be left alone as a really good game of the time... supposedly... seeing as I didn't play it. Nostalgia can only do so much for a game, and considering how hyped we all know this is going to be, I just wonder how people who haven't played the original will react to the game.

There'll be a lot of pressure on Square Enix to make this game absolutely outstanding. If they screw it up, they'll be even more hate for them than there already is, for ruining a game that so many gamers have pretty much raised on a pedestal. Even if they screw it up, though, they'll still be rabid, mindless, blind fans, circle-jerking over the game, just for the very fact that it's FFVII.

If I were to play this new version, having not played the original, I think we can all agree that it wouldn't be the same experience as the original. At the same time, the original is just so dated, that it's really difficult to go back to it as someone who didn't play the game, and get the same experience as if you were playing it at the time it came out. I just think it's just a stupid move, and they probably should have just left the game alone.

But I could be wrong. It's not like I want the game to be a disappointment, so if it turns out to be a success, awesome.

The special Square Enix flavor of disappointment has been revealed: It's episodic.

FF7 cost $50 in 1997-98 (about $65 in today's dollars). Since then development costs have exploded while the price of games remained the same. There is no way you can do FF7 the way people would want it to be done without breaking it up into episodes. If the price is too high, million plus selling games flood the used game market in no time and the price is cut to less than 1/2 in around 6 months (hell you could pick up Bioshock infinite for less than $10 now).

If its good I'm not going to care. The trailer did look promising. I never played Mass Effect but people didn't seem to complain that it was broken up.

I don't think people really know how they want it, to be honest. As far as gameplay goes, I'll let SquEni do what they want.

All that really matters to me is how they'll handle Tifa (with all this censorship SJW stuff going on in the gaming industry). I hate censorship in games.

But then they said each part has content equal to one complete game and that's actually a positive for me.. We'll see.

Not much of a fan of this becoming an episodic game. Do they really need to keep milking FF7 like this? Okay, so I'm crossing my fingers for new content/remake of Final Fantasy IV so badly that every time FF7 news comes out I should know better.

They better keep the same body dimensions for Tifa Lockhart, or it's a bust.

I'm hyped simply because I thought they did this before and they didn't.

And I rather hope they use the Advent Children model for Tifa ( best female party member in FF7)

I get the feeling it's going to be a better model than what they had in Advent Children, It's been 10 years since the release of that movie.
