but i think i'll watch the original fate/stay night even if people think its bad i'd rather get the full experience, i have noidea where to read or find the visual novels, not even sure if i've seen a visual novel before (assuming its differrent from a book, or comic?)

Upside to watching the original Fate/stay night first is that you can only go up afterwards. The ongoing adaptation is without a doubt better than the 2006 version (especially when it comes to teh visuals) and most people would agree that Fate/Zero is the superior Anime when being compared to the Anime version of UBW. So, even if you happen to not fall in love with the original Fate/stay night, I'd still urge you to watch the other versions afterwards.

A Visual Novel is a game. It's basically a text based adventure where you advance based on the choices you make. It also has voice acting, music and pretty pictures to enhance the experience. I honestly don't know where to download it since the site I got my version from doesn't have it anymore, but Google should be able to give you a somewhat satisfying result, if you'd like to go that route.

Welp, I'll add a little bit of advice on Prototype. It's a 12 minute ova that in the grand scheme of things isn't a required watch for the franchise but since it's only 12 minutes and Prototype Saber is hot, might as well watch it

Fate Stay Night reproduction (2014-2015 series) is a different route than the 2004 FSN
and the Two FSN:UBWs you mentioned, there is a TV series and a movie

Fsn reproduction was a rebroadcast with new scenes and openings of Deen Fsn when the deen movie came out. It's like what they did with Soul Eater and Katanagatari a few years ago.

The first thing I recommend is reading the Visual Novel, after that you can watch Fate/Zero. If you don't want to read it I recommend you to watch The Garden of Sinners, it's not a sequel or prequel of Fate, but is written by the same author and explains all the concepts shared in all his works. After that you can watch whatever you want.

Imagine F/S N, but with Saber's and Shirou's genders swapped. Basically that. They then changed the design because they decided they wanted a male protagonist rather than a female one.

Just read the visual novel and spare yourself.

Watching all those series is going to take longer than reading the whole thing, anyway.

Thought the VN was 60 hours? That's 160 episodes.

If you follow a walkthrough, you can get through in around 50 hours. I say to just screw it and watch whatever. You could start with pretty much anything except probably the Unlimited Blade Works movie and be fine. You might learn some stuff out of order, but it isn't really one of those stories where having advance knowledge ruins the entire story (which is a good thing, since fans will tend to tell you things whether you want them to or not).

That said, this is probably one of the most contentious questions in F/SN fandom, and *everyone* has a different opinion on the "right" way to watch it. In a lot of places, even asking the question is kinda frowned upon because of the arguments it tends to provoke.

I can provide you a link to the visual novel if you'd like. To get the full experience you'd have to read the visual novel. First, the VN has multiple endings that are cool and some are amazing for plot and character reasons, but those won't be adapted in an ime form. Secondly even in the current UBW adaptation, there is characterization lost due to lack of monologs. Thirdly, the VN has detailed fight scenes that explain things better (where ad in the animes sometimes things appear to be asspulls)As others stated, the 2006 Deen anime is a rather subpar adaptation of the fate route. So the best way to experience the fate route is through the VN

Don't, please don't watch the original. It ruins the entire thing honestly. By order of watching, I would say just watch Fate/Zero and Fate/Stay Night: Unlimited Blade Works. Ufotable announced a movie for Heaven's Feel and we can only hope they'll make it more then one movie and truly make Heaven's Feel the way its supposed to be, seeing as its the strongest route story wise (even though I would prefer to avoid Sakura like the plague). Reading the visual novel is also an option, its a fun read and for the most part you only need to read the Fate route (the first one) because as I said, Ufotable covered Unlimited Blade Works pretty well and we can only hope Heaven's Feel is as good as Kara No Kyoukai movie wise.

Personally I think the 06 anime was fine, not perfect but fine (especially for a casual fan). The music in it is on a whole other level than UBW imo and I easily prefer several of its characterizations of characters. It definitely adds in Saber's story, expands on Avalon, and has Archer with a personality I like; all of which the current UBW series doesn't have thus why in the anime-verse I'd say 06 stands in place of the 'Fate' route (and there is no other alternative "Fate" anime). It introduces the basic series then from there you can expand on it if you want via the VN & etc.

Can't really speak truly towards the VN as I'm not geared for it on multiple aspects (the anime being more modernized and removes certain aspects of the VN that were from the 1960's era when it comes to women being one of them).

I say good on you for trying it out and if you like it great, if not then oh well. Just do me a favor and try not to become one of the annoying tools that swear how its the most awful thing ever.

Best way for me to describe Visual Novel is like a more book-leaning version of a Persona game (which leans more toward the game side).

If I could I'd let you borrow my box set of it (kinda proud to own it ) but meh I'm sure there's somewhere to watch it (there usually is).

It also has a Gilgamesh that isn't overly douche-y, so that's a plus towards it as well. And Lancer's outfit in it is just awesome.
