Bacon pancakes for breakfast, Just thought i'd throw it out there.

On the subject of meat for every american, If this was in terms of rationing of a sort and not mass market eat whatever you want scenario, getting rid of fast food and the excessive waste and low standards they employ it could easily be accomplished , Almost a third of meat from the fast food industry is thrown away and not used, And the total "live-stock" accounts for almost 40%(some sources state only 25-30%) of the market.

With the expulsion of low quality produce and cheap mass employed labour, There could seriously be a decent advancement in the way husbandry is ran in these situations, More space, More product control, And in general a better well being for the animals.

OP seems uneducated and naive. You realize there's no middle class. It's poor and extremely rich. You also realize that trying to force processed foods onto a select group of people based off their income is completely retarded? Do you have a poster of Hitler in your room? What kind of people do you look up to where you come up with such a terrible idea?

We have plenty of resources to eat healthy and organic food. But we as a society chose not to do that, and take short cuts trying to play God with our foods.

How many different types of meat do you see on a daily basis at a market? Fish, Poultry, Pork, Beef. Why don't we offer other meat selections and expand our horizon? Snake, Crocodille, Frog, etc. All meat can be delicious if prepared correctly and cooked well. This would be able to lessen the intake / murder rate of cows, chickens etc. I'd also hate to break it to you, but we as a society should stray away from meat, or at least lessen the portions. Meat should be a side dish, not a main course, vegetables and other important nutrients should fill up the slot of a main dish. Another truth that people would never go for is the fact that farm raised insects would be far more cost effective and nutritious over meat.

It all boils down to the consumer, because ultimately we have the power. I haven't shopped at a wal-mart since 2007, and I don't plan on ever going back. You vote with your dollar. If you want to see less slaughter houses, stop shopping at the murder's store, it's pretty simple.

You can't go on a simple forum topic without having that person Eclair (whatever ) going on about hating America and such. Not every American is the same! Stay on topic.

Well i highly doubt anything will change. Because meat is highly demanded. Cows, pigs, chickens are all massed produce just to meet the demands. I don't think these companies have any time to treat these animals any sign of kindness. It would be highly appreciated to treat those animals a lot better but that's not going to happen any time soon. People are doing their jobs, companies providing their products, yep!

Look up cultured beef and then lobby your government to put money into researching making this a viable option to traditional meat production methods.

Hey folks, I'm deleting a few of the more recent posts that are continuing the off-topic branches about the USA/guns and the meta discussion about the thread/OP's motives.

Let's get back to the meat of the topic, please. (Alternative vegetable discussion is allowed.)

Also, please note that lately deletions result in a few posts showing up out of order. Sorry for any confusion that causes--just glance at the "Posted ..." info if things seem a bit odd.

Three squares of meat a day is absurd. How much daily meat is it that the American Heart Association recommends? I think it was like, 4oz. Obviously fish with healthy fats you can eat more, but seriously that's too much meat.
Yes, people need protein. Let's see there's nuts, cottage cheese, split peas, beans, lentils, sunflower seeds, tahini, egg whites, and if you don't have celiac, wheat gluten. If you just diversify your proteins, you'll be fine.
I am not advocating a vegetarian diet, simply one with diversity and moderation.

Genetically alter the animals to grow faster and to provide better and more meat.

We also need to learn to eat offal so we don't waste as much of the animal. Organ meat can be surprisingly good. Animal hearts and animal blood are quite tasty. Yes, and we also need to simply be less wasteful overall. I could never understand those people who buy like 4x more than they can eat and let it spoil.
