Way I see it it Europe will just bark at Russia, Russia will take Ukraine in 3 to 5 yrs time unless NATO actually sends a peace keeping force but we all know how useless they are.
The only way world war 3 will start " the way I see it, it will begin in the middle east and draw in every major power that has a stake". From there it will begin as a proxy war then evolve into a standard war from there if a nation on the verge of defeat and counting who's in power at the time then we may see nukes use in our life time. Hopefully by that point I be dead or God brings the flood.

As for nukes themselves I remember reading an article from the 2000 that stated with the current supply of nukes every nation had we could wipe out all life on Earth 6 times over. Will try to look for article and link it when I have some time.

I think it would have to be the UN. The whole reason this got started was NATO was sticking it's nose into a place it didn't belong (Ukraine) and since the only two nations currently following NATO regulations on GNP% for defense numbers, NATO should go the way of the Dodo bird.

Hell, the UN is a clusterfuck of dipshittery in it's own right. The US should just walk away and only come to the aid of Korea, Japan, Poland and Morocco.

I'm pretty scared of Nuclear War in general honestly. I doubt we've grown complacent as nuclear war is something the higher ups in the Government think about. It's something they don't want, nobody wants or needs.

I just don't understand why the 80's is being characterized as" under a constant shadow of nuclear war".You had disarmament treaties (The INF), Glasnost, Perestroika, and the fall of the old Soviet state,No one in public schools was having duck and cover drills,no Cuban missile crisis,no ludicris Civil Defense,no above ground nuclear testing, like in the 50's and 60's.The only thing that this country has become complacent about is tolerating the ridiculous amount that is spent on the US defense budget. If it means going back to Cold War mentalities to make the US "less complacent" then you can count this little black duck out.

You know, I heard that radiation meters have to be made from salvaged metal from warships that sunk deep into the ocean before nuclear testing was done. All iron on or near the surface of the Earth is too contaminated.

As tense as things are between the U.S. and Russia right now, it's a far cry from 50's and 60's. Remember the arms race, U2 incident, and most of all, the Cuban missile crisis? Russia is not the superpower it once was during your youth, the threat of nuclear was is far off my mind.

To avoid war, prepare for war. It doesn't mean accepting war is inevitable, but to accept that the consequences of unpreparedness is to encourage war being waged.

Did you watch the narrative Russia put out on their activities in Ukraine evolve?

"No. There are no Russian forces operating in Ukraine."

"Well, maybe there are some forces there. But they just got lost, we promise. Our bad."

"Alright, there are members of the Russian armed forces in Ukraine, and they're not lost. They're just on vacation in full gear. Totally not working for us."

"FINE, GOD DAMN IT. We've been in Crimea the whole time, and they've been working for us. But it was totally for the sake of their self-determination, we promise. What? Why did we lie, then? Why were they unmarked? Why did we make spec ops deaths during peacetime state secrets? Why are you so accusative? Are you with NATO? You are, aren't you! Everyone who questions Russia's government is in NATO's pocket! Stop trying to relive the Cold War!"

Yes, absolutely. Does it mean Russia wants to wage war against the US? Nope. I believe the conflict in Ukraine is not going to escalate to such scale that there will be a direct threat to the US.

In Russia Putin is a hero, people are broke and despondent. Putin is sold as the hope that Russia will regain it's former glory,(the USSR or Imperial Russia). The West is sold as sticking it's nose in where it doesn't belong,(Ukraine). Unfortunately Ukraine will likely fall into Russia's grasp again.
America is much too busy with amorphous enemies "terrorists" and trying to rescue something from an imploding middle east,(without actually committing to going back into more unwinnable wars and creating new generations of enemies). America has been sold as the world policeman; and we all know how popular cops are.
So stay out of it let other people work out their own problems, you can't end up the hero.

Never spy (and get caught) on a spy.

This tends to make them cranky.

Nuclear war would probably never happen, both sides already know what would happen if it were to take place, If a war was ever to take place; both sides wouldn't want to launch their nukes anyways what do you think stopped them nuking eachother in the cold "war"
