its very sad. I think it was just some guy who wanted to make a statement. im not sure id go as far as calling him a terrorist. makes you think was it worth rioting during those protests for unarmed black people being killed

He's a terrorist and that's all we need to know about him. Are you saying we should expect & deserved to be killed because we riot & protest for police to stop killing us?

You're right. His acts inspired terror, therefore he is, fission mailed!

Exactly. lol

I support protests, not riots. Two wrongs(racist murder and riots), don't make a single thing right.

The stupid flag had nothing to do with it; the guy was a deranged racist - hope he repents ...and is in the ground - before the year is out! If only the congregation had been armed!

Praying for those who lost loved ones. Praying for the killer to repent. Praying for justice to be served.

As a reminder, SC is a state with the death penalty. Just saying.

The shooters name is effing hilarious

Dylann Roof.

I'd hate everyone if my name had extra letters and I had an early 90's bowlcut.

Riots have forced political change and achieved important results in civl rights, free elections, racist murderers charged ....
It's natural to react physically when discontent over something is growing.

That's so sad. I don't know what goes through these minds of shooters, shooting innocent people at a place of worship.

I remember seeing this news on Yahoo. There was an article with a link to Jon Stewart summarizing the whole thing.

That kid needs to be locked up for life or get the death penalty. I pray our justice system works >_>

I'm glad the media is at least keeping things generally respectful. There's a hole in the Christian community right now and I can't imagine the hole in SC in general.

And the hole in the black community is probably the most important ... since that was the motivation behind the attack.

Whatever quantity you want to put on people's suffering

What idle part of your brain deems skin colour as a thing to just never recognize? and why mention anything at all then? why bring up Christianity? The shooting was fueled by racial hatred, black families are mourning their relatives who died for being black, and the black community are INVALIDATED AGAIN BECAUSE EVEN WHEN THEY'RE MURDERED AND IT'S LITERALLY STATED THAT THEY WERE TARGETS EVERYONE FOCUSES ON SOMETHING ELSE.

What you're doing by ignoring these people's race that they're striving to embrace is worse than looking at it so basically.

You obviously haven't read some of my other posts because I do recognize skin color. And while the motivation for the shooting was based on race it was ALSO an attack on a church, one of the few places even non-Christians will understand generally as a place of respect. You ask why being up Christianity? Because to us Christians we are brothers and sisters in Christ,a family, no matter what color or blood they might be. Yes,their immediate family is the closest touched but their this goes deeper than their family also: the community in general, the black community, Christian community, America as a whole, and this guy is going to be plastered all over the media for a while so I don't think the White community is going to be to happy about it either.

You want to put one single face on this incident but there's many even if you don't want to acknowledge it.

What's additionally tragic is that the the media has had multiple opurtunities to become so practiced in their responses.

Media has always had that. We like to pin sensationalism on modern media but really it goes back to the dawn of town criers and gossip. But hopefully people have some respect.

Going to mention as well...

There's a fund being set up to help pay for funeral expenses, family and grief counselling, community outreach, repairs and various other expenses. Right now it's open only to a network of churches but will go public soon with an official mission statement.

I'd urge the CR Christian community to remember 1 Corinthians 13 and Romans 15:13.

And I'd encourage all of CR to never take anything in your life for granted.

Riots create more murders and grows more discontent, change occurs despite riots not because of them. Righteous change of Gandhi or MLK (junior) not riots. All riots accomplished is in providing more hate.
