Just because your parents are douchebags doesn't mean you should become emancipated. Unless you're suffering some sort of abuse (whether psycological or otherwise) or have been neglected, I don't see how becoming emancipated would fix your problems. You'd be out on your own at the ripe age of 16, and unless you have a job that will pay for rent and utilities and food (which adds up really fast, no matter where you live) you'll be screwed.
My family isn't the best. I don't talk to my parents and they don't trust me. It isn't an ideal place. And yeah, there have been times where I've thought about becoming emancipated, but if you really think it through you'll realize its not worth it.
Just make sure you think about what all is involved in becoming emancipated before you try to do it. It isn't just "oh, I get to get away from my family". It's bringing adulthood onto yourself early, which is something a lot of us teens aren't quite ready for yet, whether we think we are or not.

I think Emancipation is a good thing, because many parents treat their children like ornaments that are their to make them look better, they forget that their kids are human beings with thoughts and emotions.

If you ask me I think the whole concept of "family" is absurd and it's one of the greatest mistakes that the human race has ever made.

i am on this w/ u, dude. parents just want the kids 2 b their puppet and they want it 2 perform and b everything they wanted them 2 b. the family concept is absurb. if we go by science and religion we all r related so why the heck that we get stuck in one place calling the "family".

LOL parents being assholes is nothing new. if everyone were to be emancipated just because their parents didnt listen to them, we'd have a bunch of minors running around thinking they're real adults. Your parents not listening and always acting right is not a problem that can be solved by legal means. Even if you were to be emancipated it doesnt mean that you're to never talk to them again so the same shit would just happen anyways.

Emancipation should be reserved to either people who are abused and want to legally live on their own and such, or like those celebrity kids who are completely taken advantage of by their parents.

so yea these problems can easily solved:
1. if they never listen, dont try to talk to them about problems unless its some real major shit like your pregnant or something haha. im guessing you have friends and other adults you know that can help although we all know it would be nice if your parents just listened instead.

2. if they always think theyre right, then dont argue back and just listen to them chew you out. they eventually get tired of it and stop anyways. thats what i do and my mom and i get along just fine afterwards haha.

Edit: Oh and if you're asian and your parents are completely asian, then youre shit out of luck cuz it is not a stereotype that asian parents are strict, its just true haha. i used to get smacked around for getting an A- instead of an A+ which is completely dumb but hey, there's people living worse lives and have harder problems so you just gotta deal with it.

yea f**king join the asian club bro. gahh my parents pick on me for the slightest things just like the A+. it gets tiring after a while. we r all unfortunate souls >.>

well, I just want to say to you guys..... that sometimes, it is good to listen to your parents. I am the rebellious type of person, and my parents have given up on me. They let me do what I want. However, I sometimes realize that what they are saying is also important. It might not 100% percent correct, but it is a view that is formed by experience, something that we don't have yet. So, try to be patient, and try to listen to them; while also having your critical thingking and sense of freedom.

doesnt mean theyre not wrong too...

i wanted to do that long ago because my mom was to over-protective.....but i see why now she did because people are crazy & being on your own without much can be rather dangerous. so it's best to wait until you're really ready to leave your parent's home
