Sometimes, when I feel down, I like to listen to an informative lecture from futurist Jacque Fresco.

Their waifus will never notice them.

Seriously, I think it's due to the fact that people who really seriously follow anime don't really fit in with society (like me) and that's a big source of depression. I know for me I discovered anime because I was pretty lonely. I still am but I don't feel quite so bad about it.

I live a happy life, anime is just a place I can go when I have those moments where I lock myself up, throw on pajamas and turn on a good show.

On another note, depression is a little much for what I see some people going through around here.

Depression can be big or small kouhai, don't judge those around you. Senpai believes they will make it through with love and happiness, support them like senpai does it will help them even if only a small miniscule bit everything helps.

I try not to be negative.

I guess that explains all these edgy anime's that we keep getting.
Probably because since anime is way a to escape from reality, they say. I hear that reason the most.
Personally my escape from reality is video games & sleeping.
Its harder for me with anime or just watching things in general.

Be lonely no more, senpai is here to talk, laugh, and maybe even take baths together.

I don't know. Do you consider depression a illness?

Depression is an illness, but senpai believes in you! You will fight this illness with love, happiness, laughs, and sometimes medication if needed (please visit a doctor for prescription medication if needed senpai is not a medical doctor)

I'm not depressed at all. Was just wondering everyone's opinions on if they believe if it's an illness or not. Thanks anyways though.

Anime tends to attract those who somewhat reject the reality we live in, and wish for something more fantastical and interesting. Anime is pretty much the embodiment of idealism, so it makes sense for those with depressive personalities to be drawn towards it.

Personally anime is one of the few things that entertains me. Most things in life I find extremely dull and boring, with not much value. Interacting with others is such a pain also, even if they share the same interests.

Maybe you should try having more friends who aren't into anime? I mean, one compared to zero is infinitely more right?
