Hi, I have two questions for people on crunch. Number 1, which console would you recommend and number 2 is play-asia.com a good website to buy the console off of?

I can only personally speak to the Vita. It's a very strong system but is receiving very little support outside of Japan (where it's doing very well). The good thing is that it's not region locked, so if you can understand Japanese, you can take advantage of it's strengths while minimizing it's near total lack of western presence. I love the system as a piece of hardware and the Vita TV can make it even more useful, though if you're not getting it for portability you may want to consider just getting the TV by itself. Oh, and the price of memory cards for the Vita sucks the big one.. and by big one I mean the giant one you may not even be able to fathom the size of.

As for play-asia, I've heard of a good number of people who have used it and I've never heard any complaints. I've never used it myself though.

If you like Nintendo first party games, go 3DS. If you like importing go Vita. I don't know about buying consoles off if Play Asia but I bought games and DVDs from them. It was a painless experience.

Basically what StriderShinryu said for the PS Vita, the horrible lack of western PS Vita game is a really big con for the Vita however if you can read Chinese or Japanese, then there is a big amount of games waiting for you that will probably never see western localization The performance is ok but sometimes you do see noticeable and annoying FPS drops and the game's graphic are generally a lot better than most DS games i played. Sony practically give up on Vita in the west i think. Another big con is that majority of the games on PS Vita that do see some western release will be all JRPG or Japanese games that really pander to the otaku population, I would suggest you only get Vita if you really like JRPGs and other pretty naughty ecchi games that japan like to make. ( Moe Chronicles, Senran Kagura, Akiba Strip and many others )

Meanwhile DS is pretty solid console since Nintendo actually support it and many developers on both east and west are willing to make AAA games on it. Well in my opinion the graphic is inferior to PS Vita but hey more games and less FPS problems than Vita and a lot more games genre.

Eh ... as for Playasia, i never brought anything off it other than Singaporean PSN card because i based my account in Singapore since my country is closer to it and i usually visit the country once or twice every year for medical check up / vacation.

Never used play Asia so I can't say anything about that. I do have both a Vita and a 3ds XL (Not the new one with the extra nub though) so I can say something about them. First off I like JRPGs other genres don't interest me much.

I bought the 3ds a year before I bought the Vita and I have 20 games for the 3ds and 70 for the Vita. I've only been using my 3ds as a pedometer for the last few months.

The rumors of the Vitas demise has been exaggerated. There are a ton of games coming out for it that I want. Again I like JRPG's but you're on crunchyroll so there's a strong chance you do to.

There are a bunch of visual novels like Corpse party coming too.

Check out the Vita lounge. http://thevitalounge.net/

I probably should have mentioned the screens. The 3ds has way more screen space since it has two. The vitas screen has better resolution and is better for movies if you plan to use it to watch anything.

Also Vita is a legacy platform now. Which means Sony wont be supporting it for much longer.

The Vita is the best piece of portable hardware ever created but buy a 3DS because you know there are games available for it.

Well I have both and while PSVita has more indie support, you'll get most of your games digitally and the best ones seem to be RPGs, 3DS on the other hand has a pretty darn good library of games of many different genres and a lot of interesting multi-player concepts.

They cleared that up. The legacy platform they were talking about was the Vita 1000 with the OLED screen.

I recommend the Vita is you like JRPGs. There's a good amount of those that are at least decent titles. Same with monster hunting games. If you like those, you should keep an eye on God Eater 2 that's coming out.

There's a lot of good anime/Japanese games on Vita.

if you like games like final fantasy, monster hunter 4 or fire emblem or even xenoblade chronicles, go
New 3DS XL

I would recommend you get any console off a games retailer or even a 2nd hand place like a 2nd hand market if you wanted a cheaper way to do it, but go the stores or their online stores you may get bundles of games

keep in mind the new 3ds xl does NOT include a charger!
