What is your opinion on chess? Do you like it, why or why not? Also do you play competitively or for leisure. What is your strategy when you play and your favorite offensive and defensive pieces.

For me personally, I just started playing recently against AI or the few friends I have who know how to play. I like it, the rules are extremely complex and takes a lot of practice to be good at it. It reminds me of Shogi from HxH. My favorite offensive piece is the Queen, it is very versatile. Favorite defensive piece is the Rook.

I like it. My cousin, who was a genius, tried to teach it to me when I was 3. He was 5.

Really like it. Haven't really played it in a couple of years but I plan on getting a nice set for the new apartment.

Yes, when I can find people who know how to. I live in a smallish city. It's tough to find people to play with. I've pretty much crushed the competition at the bar, which is the only place I can find people to play. Sucks, but what can you do?

I play for leisure, but not often. My grandfather started teaching everyone in the family as soon as we were old enough to understand the rules. I sometimes enjoy it because of the challenge, but other times it drives me batty when I'm up against someone that is clearly far superior to me. My favorite pieces are the knights because of their versatility and I find that games go better for me when I can control the middle of the board.

Lol, I guess there isn't much else to do. You can resort to playing the computer if you are desperate lol

*laughs* Or I can challenge you. An online game. Doubtless it could be set up. But you'd have the edge. I had to open a bar tonight, and had a few drinks. Not many, but enough I wouldn't want to challenge a good player. There'll be another day, though.

I love playing chess, both for the fun of it and for the intellectual challenge.
My favorite way of playing is to trick my opponent into a certain spot (example: by putting a potentially worrisome pawn in line with their queen) and then springing a trap (continued example: after the queen eliminates the pawn, I take the queen with a bishop strategically placed across the board, normally players only look 5 squares around their peice for danger). Before long, I have my king, queen, bishop, rook, and a few pawns compared to my opponent's lone king. Although I lose a lot (my Mom knows how to win in 4 moves).
Favorite peice? The king, I always try to keep one around.
