Read this first though. http://www.buzzfeed.com/rossalynwarren/samara-is-the-real-queen

We shall now refer to the mother as "Supercunt".

Every time I start thinking we're not so bad, something like this comes along. I honestly don't understand this. What difference does the color of someone's skin make? Or what language they speak? Or if they have long hair or short? I grew up in an era where this was tolerated, but I never stood for it.

Premise: Only those who resemble the character they intend to cosplay in canon sources ought to be allowed to do so.

Conclusion: Only bald, pale white men with egg-shaped heads and apparent cranial dents and scars may cosplay as Darth Vader. Must be at least 2.03 m tall or else costume must include stilts. Also, they have to sound like James Earl Jones to be allowed to speak while in costume.

Community Response: Rejected as nonsense.

A terrible thing to do to a young girl, and for no good reason.

Sad to say, there will always be discrimiation in some form or another. If we all looked the same. There would be some of us that would pick on others for body shape or inability to do things as well as others. As long as humans focus more on what makes us different rather than what makes us the same, this will continue to happen.

Not that this is an excuse for this kind of behavior. I am sad that this adult woman felt the need to shame a child. I am even sadder that she is teaching this hatred to her children. Hate is such a devastating emotion.

See's Red!!!! The woman obviously has a vacancy where her heart should be...I probably would have publicly humiliated her and made her repeat what she said out loud to the nearby crowd...and let them forage on her bones.

-shakes head-

Shame on the mother who insulted Samara, and shame on that woman's children as well. This world is full of disgusting people.

What the FUCK? What this woman and her two daughters did to that little girl is just horrible. My niece, who is six now, is of mixed race and has very similar color to the little girl in the article, Samara. Frozen is one of her favorite movies. If someone said something like that to my niece and I was around, I'd rip them a new one. And if I heard about anyone doing that to my niece, I'd want to find them and give them a piece of my mind. And I'm a non-confrontational person. Kids have a hard enough time while growing up with possibly being bullied and stuff like that, and racism just makes it even worse. And it's even harder for girls, as they tend to get teased about things more. This woman and her daughters need to be taught some lessons in sensitivity. I was raised better than to judge someone on skin color.

Why are people still worried about skin color when cosplaying?

I've see cosplayers with darker skin slaying in cosplay more so ones with lighter skin.

I read through the thread to see who would notice that the story was from Australia.
(Where "black" is more often used as a coverall term for Aborigine, as in this case, and face even higher degrees of ancient British-descended racism.)

....Nnnnope. Looks like I'm the first. Reading is fundamental.

That was an interesting read. I hope those kids aren't racist when they get older. They probably won't change though.
