Like:
-Horror/supernatural/psychological
-Character development
-Plot twists
-Action
-Scenes full of utter destruction, depravity, or general f***ed-up-ness
-Wordplay/unique metahumor
-Cringey humor
-Villains that are fleshed out as rational people
-Unique, highly-stylized or quirky abilities that are still cool

Hate:
-Vanilla, predictable characters
-Characters that never change
-Boring battles with long speeches and flashbacks
-Excessive fanservice
-Too many loopholes
-When characters get powers inexplicably and win for no reason
-Generic "fire" powers or magic or other super common ability

angel beats. i think it has a good potential to at least uncover everyones past lives & cause of deaths but i felt it was rushed when those shadow like monsters showed up

I hate when characters get strength or powers out of nowhere I think romance has become too generic and I hate how in a lot of Anime that things in the end goes the way of the main character and I love Watamote for showing what it would look like if the protagonist fails.

Dislike the ones that make you watch and decipher every single detail and piece of dialogue like it's some kind of puzzle. I'm a filthy casual.

They explained why they showed up and the cause of them. But I have to admit, I found the explanation very confusing lol, I'm surprised she didn't choose the God option. But I didn't think it ruined the show though, the ending was great imo

Oregairu and monogatari can be like that sometimes lol, but that's what makes them great to me. But watching too anime like this is definitely not good/fun

I really appreciate series that are able to show organic conflict between the characters. Sure there are lots of anime shows with drama, but sometimes i like to see some genuine human weakness come through, even if the characters aren't weak humans themselves. Most shows will do this to at least some extent like KLK where there's vendetta and loneliness and SnK where fear and hatred are paramount. But then you have the softer moments in some shows like NGE where even though the biggest conflict was battling the angels, the real underlying, plot driving device was the doubt and resentment of the main character and that sometimes the biggest battles we fight are among our closest acquaintances.

Even Kyousougiga, which was quite crazy by any measure, was able to hit these notes particularly well, not even necessarily by showing that a character is weak, but by showing that they had certain qualities and/or characteristics that viewers could sympathize or even empathize with. Each character felt so genuine within the show that you couldn't cast any of them aside.

And then there are shows that rely solely on that connection that the viewers make with their characters like Angel Beats or Anohana; even the more lighthearted ones as well like Uchouten Kazoku and Hibike! Euphonium. And i'm not meaning to leave out any shows on this list, believe me there are tons that have these characteristics ingrained into the plot, even SnK that i mentioned before fits relatively well to this sort of conflict, though i feel it lies in more moments that weren't highlighted in the show as much.

And i'm not really saying a show has to have it as a main plot point or tie in with the show that much, both Space Dandy and Cowboy Bebop took breaks every now and then between all the adventures to explore sides of their characters that might not be present on the surface, but is definitely a part of who they are.

Its just little things like that honestly that help you connect with a show so much more than all of the pretty animations and crazy plot devices and universes that exist all twisted up together

well im kind of like just recently converted to being an otaku.. so i been mostly just watching storys of close relationships and friendship stuff. cause i am kind of a sucker for romance and i have my personal favorites of them but i don't really care much for some animes. i just believe that..

1. everything has its ups and downs
2. you have to enjoy for what it is
3. nothing is perfect in the end
4. it never hurts to have different character personalitys
5. you got to least try to remember the story if you can remember it. then it was something that caught your eye
6. im sorry im just a sap for the lovey dovey stuff or the drama of love.

ps~ i kind of thought id get notifications if people were talking on here so i was to distracted with my currently 9th serious anime. other then the fact i watched alot of naruto some bleach. one peace. *brain fart.* all i can really think of atm

I like anime's that have a lot of philosophical themes that I kinda have to watch over a couple time to understand or at least get a better grasp of.
Also I love filler, the contrast of that with serious plot development is what makes an anime worth to watch when simulcasted.
There's alot more I just can't think right now it late...

So how was Psycho pass 2 compared to 1? I haven't checked it out yet.
