Post Reply RPG: Of Thieves and Tears

the thief backs into the bale of hay. "NO!" He cries out, throwing a knife at her. She takes her own which is in her belt and deflects the thief's , causing it to land blade-first into the grass as she grabs his collar and slams him hard into the bale of hay.
"I said.....give me, my wallet." She hisses. Oran sees her face has changed as she puts her knife to his throat. The thief can't nod because of how close the blade is but he reaches into his pocket and gives her back Oran's wallet. She throws him to Oran with a derisive snort.
"If you're gonna steal, don't give thieves a bad name by your sloppy job." She growls, taking her small purple throwing dagger from the wall it has lodged itself into when it cut the rope connected to the bale of hay.

The thief swallows hard, looking up at Oran as Meera collects her dagger. "Um....got a penny to spare?" He asked with a grin of blackened teeth in his sallow, dirty face.

"You really think that's a smart thing to ask after pissing her off* flips him a coin anyway" next time just ask I would have spared some"

"Yeah, sure. Have a woman fight your battles for you." The thief grinds out, spit going everywhere as he takes it and runs. Meera comes back, throwing dagger in hand as she sheathes her own knife and her daggers back in her utility belt and takes up the crude knife the thief had pulled on her. Picking it up from the dirt she wipes it off.
"It's not great, but it'll do good to have an extra throwing blade that I'm not afraid to part with." She muses out loud, sticking it in the back of her belt where it won't be seen as she grins up at him. Her cheerful demeanor is back as she wipes off her hands on her cloak.
"Such a vulgar man, pulling a knife on a lady like that." She grins at Oran.

Meera nods to her companion but worry has now settled on her young face. She is not fooling herself as they walk back into the shop and pick up their weapons. As she strap on her sword, thanking Silvia as she does so, Meera takes a minute to go outside and close her eyes, gathering up her courage as she puts her hand to her heart.
This is not only an adventure; this is something she most likely won't come back from. They won't come back from. They are going there; to the "Castle Without Name", as the locals call it.
For the sake of a Queen whose kingdom Meera isn't even a part of.
Meera stops for a moment to think, Is it worth loosing my life over? It's not much of a life; but it's mine. She stares at the sky, as if searching for her answer there.
Was she really ready to die?.

As he finish securing the last clasp on his armor he see's Meera worried, he walks over and grabs her hand and tells her "hey its OK to be scare, but I'm not gonna let anything happen to you, we'll look out for each other OK"
Posted 6/25/15
Meera is surprised and jumps a little as he breaks her from her reverie. At his declaration she is somewhat stunned but takes his hand firmly in hers.
"Thank you; and I will watch your back. I promise." She tells him quietly. "I just didn't expect to be going to the darkest place in tine land when I woke up this morning; but the offer of new clothes was too good to pass up. Plus free weaponry and armor. Gotta love that." She said in a light joke, getting everything ready with him.
She takes her sack and he takes his and they leave the town, the grieving king watching their departure from his gates at the highest turret window of his castle.
please hurry. he whispers softly, looking at his ailing wife as the gates close behind Meera and Oran.

Things are quiet for much of the walk but Meera can't help but ask after awhile, "Do you have a sweetheart waiting somewhere? Some place to call home?" She asks boldly.

"No, just me, my friends Silvia, and ifrit" scratches the drakes chin "we met during the battle of the iron gate, when the drows from the lower valleys tried invading the city of whiterun" looks over to her "we were in the same mercenary company"

Ooc: wooooo possible backstory to the mysterious Oran???? Ooc

ooc: woot woot! Booyah!! end ooc:

"I've met Drows before. Pretty unsavory." Meera nods, her eyes wide, "But the Whiterun Skirmish was quite the battle, I remember hearing it when I went through the town next to it. Not many made it out. You and Silvia must be brave warriors indeed." She says to him, reaching over and petting Ifrit's head. "How did you come upon this little guy? He seems quite charming for a baby drake. I expected him to bite my hand off."

"Save him from a pack of direwolves" He said to her as he pets ifrit
Ifrit roars and tries to breath fire but still to young to do it
Soon the road starts to end as they approach the Forrest of the lost
Posted 6/26/15
Meera stops and sniffs the air, looking up. She points to the black smoke against the sky, which is starting to darken.
"Someone's on the edge of the Forest, Oran; and do you smell that on the breeze? It's rank." Meera coughs a little.
"Goblins, probably; or Wild Men." She looks at him. "Both aren't great but they normally carry good weapons that we could use, plus edible supplies; and they've more than likely caught our scent by now anyway so it's useless to go around."

"Great this should be fun" readies his sword and he tucks ifrit into his armor to protect him
"Last I checked both has archers lets hope they don't have any" looks at her with worried look
"Cause I don't think your armor can stop arrows"
Posted 6/26/15
Meera grins and gives him a wink. "No worries, boss man." she tells him with a smirk. "That's why I don't have heavy armor. I'm quicker than I look."

There are three WildMen around the fire, sitting over a bot of soup and their ample supplies on the ground. They are large, oversized and covered with hair from head to foot with big fat flat faces. One of them has a huge bow with a quiver of arrows at his side.

Meera looks over at Oran. "Wildmen." she says quietly. "They're faster than they look." She looks down over his heart where Ifrit is resting and covered.
"Keep safe, Ifrit." she whispers.

One of the Wildmen comes over, a gigantic club in his hand as the one with the bow sits by the fire.
"Travelers this way pay a toll." He tells the pair, eyeing Oran's sword greedily.

"Last I checked these were free roads" clenches my sword "let us pass"
Slowly gets into a fighting stance and gets a gut feeling there being watched
Posted 6/26/15
"Free roads of the King's tax." The Wildman laughs.

Meera's eyes narrow, feeling the hairs on the back of her neck stand up. "Will you let us pass, WildMan." She more demands rather than asks.

"Give us your little toys." He points to their swords with a blackened grin, "And perhaps we'll let you go with a few broken bones, Har har har!"

Behind them another Wildman, a third, is going behind the two humans with a club in his hand as well!
