Now I don't know if you guys take this seriously or not but do you immediately love your favorite actor/actress even more then you did before if they announce to the media that they love anime?

I don't buy it! Heres why if theres one thing I notice when a celebrity says they like anime they only say the name of just one JUST ONE! Mainstream anime, remember that meme that goes: Oh! Your an Otaku? Name 5 anime besides DBZ and One Piece.

Basically the meme is asking can you name nonmainstream anime you like that is probably just as good as the mainstream ones that most ppl never heard of. I've heard plenty celebs so far say they like DBZ, Naruto, One Piece, Pokemon.

Now in case of Robin Williams who said before he passed away that he liked Zelda. I believe him on that because theres videos of him and his daughter playing Zelda and his daughter often talks about her memories with her dad his daughter is named Zelda! So theres evidence. But anime takes a lot of devotion.

Another reason why I don't buy it when a celebrity says this is cuz' THEY DON'T GOT ANY TIME! DUH! They probably are acting for 2 new movies at a time to make double the money and with trial and error that should take up most of their week's schedule any other free time they have left they are probably looking for sex.

Running a side business. Believe it or not I like Tom Cruise but if he ever says I like anime I would SAY YOU LIAR! Sorry but I think all this is self promotion because anime has large fanbase! See if an actor or singer says they like anime guess whats gonna happen? All the people who don't have the ability to think for themselves immediately buy their stuff. I wonder what you would do if Lady Gaga said she likes Deathnote?

I'm pretty sure Lupe Fiasco does. His new album "Tetsuo and Youth" features a song called Mazinger Z and uses samples from the japanese and english versions.

Kanye West's "Stronger" video is a straight up shoutout to Akira

The RZA did the whole soundtrack for Afro Samurai.

Odd Future often references DBZ. Domo Genesis even has a song called SS4

Aaron McGruder (Obviously, considering most boondocks fight scenes are taken from famous anime fight scenes)

I don't really follow celeb lifestyles etc, but they are just people. Just because they're popular it don't mean they do nothing else.

Back when almost literally nobody knew anime outside of the college clubs, Phil Hartman pretty much first encountered anime doing the Disney dub for Kiki's Delivery Service, and sounded genuinely enthusiastic about spreading the word.

(This, five years before every other mainstream adult in the US considered themselves "anime-literate" for having heard of Spirited Away winning the Oscar.)
