I'm pretty sure Gwen Stefani is a total weeb, so I guess that means she likes anime...

Most of the ones I've heard just like the mainstream stuff. Especially when Attack On Titan blew up for some unknown reason, everyone's like "I LOVE ATTACK ON TITAN" and then I'm like yeah... what else? Dragonball Z, Bleach, One Piece, Fairy Tail... anything that's considered mainstream. But I don't really know anyone who looks up other anime for fun in real life or celebrity-wise. But then, what is an anime fan then? Someone who just likes what's popular or those who go outside the box? I'm honestly a little bit of both, although all the ones I listed after Attack On Titan are "BLEH" to me :P

Anyways, long intro. I know Pharrell is super into anime and Japanese culture. He likes the lolis xD Pretty sure Gwen Stefani is too. Lady Gaga actually loves Hatsune Miku lol There's probably more people that won't admit it in public. I don't tell anyone unless they bring it up. And I'm pretty sure there was a similar thread to this a few months back.

I look at it this way, you aren't going to have someone famous come out and say "I love The Testament of Sister New Devil!" or "DxD is the best thing ever!" stuff along those lines. With everybody being hyperbabies about things now, could you see someone trying to put out those fires on CNN?

Although, I wouldn't mind listening to Charles Barkley explain how Cross Ange is good because it shows powerful women protecting the ones they love on MSNBC...

Or more specifically, anything airing on Cartoon Network for free, because as all good mainstream people know, CN is the only place in the entire country to find this mysterious "Anime".
(And while fans may recommend Cowboy Bebop and Outlaw Star for many reasons, there are still people who consider Big O and Wolf's Rain "classics" because they were told so.)

Back when Roger Ebert considered himself "anime-literate" because he liked Princess Mononoke, and watched Grave of the Fireflies because Fireflies-worshipping fanboys wrote in telling him to , he used to do whole essays on the Rise of Anime (this was back in the '99 solo days between Siskel and Roeper, and we could have had Harry Knowles as a teamup)--
Problem is, his view was somewhat limited: He talked about the various ponderously "artsy" import features playing the arthouses that unprepared movie critics were sent out to review, and yes, Akira, but whenever he mentioned TV series, his essays always started out "All those (TV series) tapes at Suncoast....Clearly someone must be watching them, but who?"
Well, freakin' duh, Rog, WE are; what the heck are you watching, Paprika?? Sheesh!

Hence the derogatory fan term for "The Ebert List", when an underinformed mainstream fan insists that to be "anime literate", one must watch Akira, Ghost in the Shell, Paprika, Grave of the Fireflies, Tekonkinkreet, all Ghibli films starting with the "bold" Mononoke first, and, of course, Tezuka's "Metropolis".
(Which, we complained, was like someone asking what British TV was like, and being sat down and forced to watch twelve hours of Downton Abbey, without ever being told that Doctor Who, Avengers '67, or Monty Python ever existed.)

I'd have to have a favorite celebrity and actually care about them before I can answer TC. I'm pretty sure some DID. Some people only like old anime and don't watch the new stuff. Although I do doubt that celebrities have lots of free time to watch everything, so they probably stick with mainstream anime I'd guess.
