I hope they include something that indicates when an episode is/was delayed... but yeah, the calendar needed improvement, but what really needs this is the MANGA section, I'd love to be able to tell which series are monthly and which are weekly without googling each name, then translating to japanese, and then googling again...

A huge second to the manga idea. The fact that there's no manga calendar is frequently annoying.

How about all members who are PAYING for anime since it is an anime calendar.

*shrugs*

I'm on a bog-standard non--plus Premium subscription and I don't see a problem with this.

For one thing, from the moment they announced reshuffling the membership tiers they put "Early Access to Beta Test New Features" as one of the Premium+ benefits. So it's not as if this is unexpected unfair treatment.

And much as I often like being able to early-access test unpolished systems (I'm a tech-geek, it goes with the territory...) sometimes even I want to just sit back and let other people work their way through the most egregious issues with anything new.

And this sort of phased-rollout makes perfect sense. Putting aside the user-feedback aspect, it allows them to test out a new system with real-world users and see the impact of running it in the wild before having it go under a full system load.

I don't think it's unfair treatment. I was just wondering why they would do that since it limits the feedback they get before the official rollout.

Probably because if you get too much feedback, it's really difficult to process. It makes sense to me that they'd open it up to a smaller group a first, especially if that group is the people paying the most money—aka the people most financially invested in the site.

ok this sounds really cool. Now if only they can get a movie section that has anime movies that would be really sweet

Could be useful for website watchers (of which I am only rarely one). It doesn't appear to have any relevance for iOS app users (unless I'm missing something). For these latter, notifications would do the trick, if they in fact worked. I've long since used the iOS calendar and Google calendar to make a schedule of my simulcast lineup, and, if an episode doesn't appear, I just check your Twitter feed. So, for myself, it's not something I can see consulting a lot, but who knows?

Have you tried an RSS push notification app (like Boxcar https://itunes.apple.com/app/boxcar-2/id782987891?mt=8 no connection to author, just using it as an example)

It should be able to use the feed here: http://feeds.feedburner.com/crunchyroll/rss/anime

I've never tried that, but I might check it out. Thanks for the suggestion.

This looks useful. Right now, I have to add shows I want to watch to my queue, then manually order them to match the simulcast day/time order. If I could view them pre-sorted in a calendar page, that might be better.

looks like a cool feature but i usually stick to my queue and just press the dice whenever im bored. maybe this will make it easier to discover new stuff what i might have missed.

Probably specifically because it limits the feedback. And by making beta features a part of the Premium+ package, it means they don't have to put a call out for testers for every individual feature.

You should always start a rollout to a small subset of your real-world users. You need the sort of feedback and potential bug-finding that you can only find outside of your controlled testing environment, but you also don't want to open the floodgates of having everyone testing and commenting at once.

For one thing, if something has a negative effect on your backend systems, you're limiting the impact. (To yourself, and to your wider user base)
Also, using Premium+ subscribers, if something has a negative effect on the end-user experience of your higher-paying customers then you have a vested interest in getting everything shipshape ASAFP.

The design is nice, the fact that you can see the timer is really useful and also to be able to see which ones are in your queue or bookmarked is also pretty good. Great improvement overall. I would love to see integration in the future for google calendar to track release dates and time

Did anyone else suddenly get a poll on what anime they want for summer 2015? this is an awesome new feature and I was super surprised yet happy to use it sense I haven't seen anything about it yet!
