In the UK the legal drinking age is 18 so as a university student, it is very common to see drunk people in the streets after a night out. There are volunteers who try and make sure anyone who is drunk and having a bad experience is safe though which is nice. I fell asleep at a bus stop at 4am once but then the bus pulled up at 6am so I just got on and went home.

& if you aren't getting wasted in public where are you getting wasted? I thought the main point of getting wasted was social bonding. I would never drink it if I was just staying in alone.

Do it in every time I visit a certain Latin American country since everyone is always wasted clubbing on the weekends and open carrying liquor is the normal. Hey, just trying to fit in with the culture

This thread reminds me of this video I saw a while ago. It was of some drunk guy that got stuck in a riptide current, took him like 3 minutes to get out. Lost his pants in the process too. He was so drunk that as soon as he made it out of the water he'd just stand there and a wave would pull him back in. I'd link it but I don't know if that'd break forum rules, since, like I said, he DOES lose his pants, even though you can't really "see" anything.

It's no big deal. Go out anywhere in a large town in the UK and I will guarantee that around 12-1am you will see numerous people stumbling around outside pubs & clubs and more than a few completely passed out on the floor.

But it was in the middle of the week in the afternoon! He wasn't there in the morning (Asked classmates who had had to go earlier) nor in the evening...

What I mean is, seeing someone completely wasted on the ground is nothing special.

Seen someone walking drunk getting arrested for public intoxication.

There's more of that in the summer(people wasted during the day). It's sad to see, they obviously need to be calling someone (Samaritans) for help not getting piss drunk.

If they're foolish enough to pass out drunk in public no sympathy if they get their wallet taken.

Provided one is not committing violent acts or harassment, I fully support the right of people to be as bloody inebriated as they please in public spaces. Don't disturb the peace and go home. It prevents drunk driving, so whatever.
