I'm speaking in general.

In general, the vast majority of censorship is handled by corporations. The government does not own the MPAA, ESA, Viacom, Target, etc...
The government only really censors (thru the FCC) content that travels over public airwaves. 90% of all censorship they have nothing to do with.

It still would be operted a bit by the crowed (consumers, most likley "newer" ones that is easier offended by sci-fiction content etc) and if the crowed want such things well then what more would happened not only here as shown in other actions before..

(so its more in that groupe censoring stuff that sometimes the goverment agrees with that I sometimes could not understand is just some "offended" and then change in the rules or system just because of that?)

In many cases, yes, censorship occurs because the majority demands it.
Honestly tho, I just see this as a case of Apple being Apple. They censored any mention of the Pebble smartwatch, as well as fart sounds. Apple censoring something should really be considered a non-event at this point.

I agree with you, but I do think removing it from Civil War games, is a bit excessive, but then again, it's Apple's app store. They make the rules, if people don't like it they can vote with their wallets and stop supporting.

So you want the Nazi flag away too when its millions if not more products like games, books, magazines? (if following the same idea and should be censored)

Well it's illegal to mention anything about nazis in certain countries

I guess thats about it?
its just so mind buggling how much rights someone else should have and after the shooting some prestors suggested "being armed for situasjons like these" and nearly succeeded by doing so.
(Would assume there is a lot of tension up around there)

I don't really see the point in banning something offensive as long as it is used in a historically accurate context. The confederate flag is shown in some movies, but you don't see apple taking those off its store.

If I am an art vendor, and I opt not to sell sad clown paintings, am I censoring painters of sad clowns?

A symbol people died for because Lincoln hurt their feelings and they weren't ready to give black people proper human rights. Yup, sound about right. Such a waste we have to get rid of it.

But no seriously, if I remember correctly, the Confederate Flag was only used as a flag for the Civil War for the Confederates. It wasn't used for any official means other than that. Correct me if I'm wrong.

So removing it was only be natural because WE the people of United States do no walk that path anymore, the path of racial discrimination. Big fat sarcasm.

I'm for the flag being banned. South lost; get the hell over it. It's a symbol of a dark time in American History and well, it can go into a museum. And anyway, it's not like the flag's being banned altogether; you can still fly it on personal property.

However, getting rid of everything to do with the Civil War is ridiculous and being too PC and overdramatic. You can't erase what's been done in the past. Also, aren't those Apple games supposed to be educational?

If a business chooses to remove the flag its fine but if they are pressured by the government or politicians then I have a problem. To different people it has different meanings to some racism to others state rights vs government control and to some it holds historical significance. Just because I see someone who has a flag on their car or cellphone case i'm not going to assume they are a racist. For me the flag reminds me of the old tv show The Dukes of Hazard which was a family friendly show back in the day.

Put it this way: why would you fly your flag loud and proud when your country lost a war?

I'm sure most of the South are lovely people(obviously the ones who are on here anyway), but when I see someone with a confederate flag(yep, there's some people in PA that does this), I will avoid you like the plague.

That's another thing that's stupid.

Banning an old tv show that has the flag on it? Really? I mean....it's fiction. People are already going after Gone With The Wind and next they'll be asking for The Red Badge of Courage to be banned.
