From personal experience I usually see people wash their hands for about 10 seconds....which seems the most practical I guess. I get really icky when it comes to public bathrooms. I typically count to 30 and I ALWAYS flush with my feet.

You should wash your hands for a lot longer than 10 seconds to get all the germs off them!

My oldest was in the NICU for his first 26 days after he was born (was born 10 weeks early); so, to ensure we were clean/sterile when we touched the baby in the NICU, we were told to recite the alphabet while washing our hands to ensure we spent enough time.

I like to scrub the soap on first thoroughly then rinse all the soap off while scrubbing my hands together until all soap is off. A good hand washing takes me like 12-15 seconds.

Picked the 10-20 usually depends on what I did; if I have chemicals or grease on my hands; or am I just using the bathroom

i used to visit someone at the hospital all the time when i was much younger and I kind of developed the habit of washing my hands frequently from there.

Basing off working in the medical field, I'd say I wash my hands for more than 2 to 3 minutes.
