What's with this past 5 years of romance anime having this never-ending story line. The only one I can think of that actually kind-of, sort-of ended was kaichou wa maid-sama (but only in the manga). After looking through 2004-2009 romance anime, a lot of them actually ended. Like, after the 24 episodes were up, that was it. The story was done. And upcoming: ore monogatari

And a lot of them are still stuck at the confession phase! That's only the beginning!

probably means a romance anime that actually ends with the pair together..

maybe Kokoro connect or something like familiar of zero if you want some action?

Well nisekoi is a harem. It's supposed to be neverending.

Try Toradora or Kimi no todoke. Both gets past confession point.

manga usually ends but i know most anime folks here dont rly like to read manga but the story, unless it is still ongoing, typically has an ending...

unless u like harem. then you're kind of out of luck unless ur fav happens to be endgame.

In addition to what's already been stated:

Monogatari
The Tatami Galaxy
Steins;Gate (ish)
Clannad (in case you somehow haven't seen it)
Aku no Hana (ish)
White Album
White Album 2
Onegai Sensei
The World God Only Knows (ish)
Oreimo (You might complain, but it DID end)
Blast of Tempest
FLCL
Requiem for the Phantom (kinda counts, I think)
Mekakucity Actors (can't fully recommend it though)
Gosick (If I remember correctly)

This is what I got after a quick scan of my MAL account. Either way though, I agree, this is a pretty short list considering the vast list I'd probably end up with counting the ones that don't end.

Edit: Just noticed you said "in the last five years." subtract from list accordingly.

Stein's;Gate did, it had an OVA which pretty much made Kurisu and Okarin canon. Then it had a movie which basically made it even more canon :P. The movie was kind of pointless though, but you do get to see Kurisu drunk, and that is cute.

TWGOK did come to a completion in the manga. No loose threads or anything.

Finally, Yes Gosick had a conclusive ending as well.

In addition, although maybe not the last 5 years :

Ichigo 100% (manga version) - One of my favorite ones. I don't like the main character but the best girl is awesome and he chooses her, so I liked it.
Kodomo no Jikan (manga version) - Again conclusive.
Bakuman (anime version) - It has a few extra scenes on the manga.
Nagi no Asukara (anime original) - I'd say it's quite conclusive.
Little Buster (anime version) - romance isn't the main focus of the story, so they actually pair up the main character and heroine quite quickly.
Kokoro Connect (anime version) - It doesn't seem to technically be the ending, but it ends at a point in the story where it is a satisfying ending anyway.
Tamako Market (anime original) - The movie gives a conclusive ending to the romance.
Shakugan no Shana (anime version) - It is conclusive
Inu x Boku SS - This one I like a lot. A lot of people haven't watched it, go watch it now.

Read Horimiya, they start actually dating 7 chapters in or so. Could also try the Monogatari series I guess.

I hope- My Love Story- has some kinda of closure or I will rip my heart out and become a unemotional machine I just started to trust the writers but if the stabbed me in the back might be huddled in the corner with a blanket.
SNAFU ending felt like kissing your sister awkward and not gratifying

Some of these might have already been said but I don't feel like checking so I'll say them anyway.

Kanon
Little Busters (More of a focus on friendship than romance. But the romance is there still regardless, more so in the second season)
The Familiar of Zero
My Bride is A Mermaid
Shakugan no Shana
InuYasha
Rumbling Hearts
Yosuga no Sora
OreImo
Shuffle
We Without Wings
