I used to think ya know that anime was for "weirdos" (I'm being honest) but then in my sophomore year of high school nearly two years ago (upcoming senior woot! woot!) my friend by the name of Matthew told me to watch this show by the name of you know it....ATTACK ON TITAN! And try my best to get to episode five because if you've watched the show episode five is when it gets really really really (one more time) really good. I was like "okay I'll do it" and when I decided to watch it, attack on Titan was still airing but I believe it had like two more weeks left but I caught up to it in less than 24 hours and from then on I started watching everything I could get my hands on trying to explore what I liked and didn't like. Went to my first convention last year and it was legendary. I strongly regret calling people who watch anime weird. The easiest and most friendly group of individuals to talk to. If you would see me in real life you would not think I'm an otaku and would never guess that I've seen as much anime as I've seen.

So Attack on Titan popped your anime cherry? I feel sorry for you as you missed out on so many great shows. Go browse the forums and watch EVERYTHING that is recommended to you!

Even though I started nearly two years ago I've still watched hundreds of anime. I'm actually on episode 5 of cowboy bebop as we speak.

I didn't seriously start keeping up with a anime until I watched Naruto, but I had been watching anime shows sporadically before then.

Bubblegum Crisis and Kimagure Orange Road. I had been exposed to the original Robotech through a roomie in the miitary, but going out of my way to find stuff? I blame Animeigo.

And worse, I bought the KOR Laserdiscs which I can't play anymore thanks to a dead player.

This is going to make me feel old

Definately Starblazers and Robotech. I used to watch them after school. The english dubbed ones.

After I learned to drive, I found myself going to San Francisco with my buddy to this hole in the wall anime store. We would pick up VHS copies of anime from a laserdisc......yes...laserdisc.

It used to be so hard to get your hands on good anime but once internet streaming sites started then it was like heaven.

First Anime I ever watched? Ghost in the Shell, I found out about it from an AMV of a Daft Punk song and several years after seeing the AMV I was reminded about it and tried to find the show as it looked interesting...

.... I've been watching Anime for several years ever since on and off.

Yugioh and Pokemon. I saw those growing up. The anime that really got me consistently watching new anime was Naruto. It was all my friends talked about. I remember watching at least twenty episodes of it a day until I was caught up. Then I watched Elfen Lied, Peach Girl, School Rumble etc. all in middle school.

The anime that actually lead up to me looking for more anime to watch was Inuyasha. Whilst I had watched anime before that, I had associated the shows I had seen (I.e Dragon Ball Z) as Cartoons since I actually had no clue what anime was. I remember sitting up late one night watching cable when I seen an episode of Inuyasha. After that I was interested in seeing more so I sat up late each night waiting for the next episode (Which sadly never came since it was replaced by Aqua Teen Hunger Force and Initial D). After that, several years passed and I started borrowing DVDs from the Library when I stumbled upon Inuyasha under the Anime section. After watching all the episodes of that, I started to get into anime like Gundam Seed, Rosario to Vampire and Elfen Lied. Around this time I discovered the existence of illegal streaming sites and just watched whatever seemed interesting.

Sailor moon was the roots that slowly grew, Haruhi made them come out more. Then it was multiple shows after that era in anime.

I started watching Sailor Moon, Cardcaptors, DBZ and Pokemon before I ever heard the term "anime." Something about people turning art into a show just captivated me. I have grown up watching anime and I still have the awe I felt where I first started watching it. Now I do fan art, my own anime-inspired drawings, and comic strips in my free time. I love anime and always will! Otaku!!

Sorry wasn't trying to sound elitist. I forget that AoT was aired that long ago. Doesn't feel that long ago, just one of the joys of getting older I guess
