Post Reply Games you played as kids

I used to play this one game where me and my friends would have hit points and each time we were hit with a stick we would lose a hit point until the last person was standing. it was kinda cool since we had a lot of different terrain to play with where I lived. Kinda like our version of LARP-ing.

Another game I played is you choose a certain number of syllables and you go through the alphabet saying a word that has "X" amount of syllables until one person remains(also if you go all the way through the alphabet you just start over), you lose if you take too long or if you repeat a word.

I'm interested to hear what kind of games everybody played as kids or even you still play today.

Edit: I meant games you played that aren't 2D... Should of made it more clear

We played war. We'd line up two opposing neighborhoods and threw anything handy at each other and if no one was around to play with we'd stand by the railway tracks and throw rocks at the brand new cars on the rail cars as they rolled past.

Dirt clod wars. Lived in some sandy areas in Texas. When it would rain, then the sun dried everything, the sandy soil would get solid enough to throw in clods....but fell apart easily and was soft enough that no one got hurt. On top of that it'd leave a little dirt mark on your clothes, so there was no denying you were hit. Like paintball. Fun times.
Also, hide and seek in the dark. That's good times, even up into your teens. Grandparents lived in the burbs outside of Houston. In the summers, my siblings and the neighbor hood kids would get together after dark and play. Half the fun was outing someone else's location with noise from a well aimed rock, so that you could run to base. After you've played hide and seek in the dark, there is no going back to the day time.

Playing runouts, then just going home to play pokemon mid-game while they were still trying to find me, that was fun.

Bulldog seemed to be the playground game through my school life. Everyone would line up at one side of the playground and run across to other side. One person stands in the middle and 'tags' (well...takes down) as many people as they can and they join them in catching others until a winner is left standing or a group of teachers stopped the game. If too many people wanted to play then two teams would run across each other. Sounds daft but was good fun.

when I was a kid we would play ball wall , blind man's bluff and trying to build tree houses . Then we started playing computer games so we stopped going outside so much lol . blind man's bluff was a game where one person would have to wear a blindfold and then have to grab hold of one of the other players and then they have to wear the blindfold we would normally play on jungle gym and the other players are not allowed to touch the ground .
