I'm wondering what you guys have built yourselves in your garages or basements or attics or whatever. I used to love arts and crafts as a kid, as well as making weapons. I hammered a knife out of a railroad spike, hammered a crude sword out of rebar, built a small crossbow that fired pencils, built a little catapult that threw golf balls, carved a bow and arrows when camping, knapped stone arrowheads, etc. There are more things but it wouldn't be fun for me to list them all now.

What sorts of things have you guys made? Can be from childhood or recently.

For some reason I thought about homemade bombs when I read the title.

I played with legos for most of my childhood. Does that count?

I guess so, if you did what I did and built aquarium ornaments from Legos. One of the best uses for Legos ever, IMO. Just gotta weigh them down with stones.

I did make molotovs but I managed to not kill myself with them. I was in elementary school and probably wasn't supposed to be playing with molotovs.

Made a potato cannon with some friends back in high school, but we painted the PVC and found out that the paint leeched certain chemicals out of the plastic and if we continued it might explode on us. We were like "well, it was fun for two days, moving on."

Now I'm all like Kerbal Space Program got rockets dude, stupid Space X can't launch anything that doesn't seriously waste a ton of resources and jeopardize the global space program, I can't either, but at least I'm doing it in a video game with save states.

The space station needs that stuff. I'm sorry, but NASA needs to be launching these rockets if we want to keep the astronauts' water drinkable.

Oh, also I built my computer, that was kind of fun to do on the super-cheap. It rarely crashes, mostly during big rocket launches in Kerbal Space Program because of an integrated graphics card.

Well for a science project, I made a high striker carnival game (you know the one where you take a mallet and try to ring a bell) using a display board, some LED lights, some wire, and a 9v battery. I didn't have resistors, so I managed to make one out of a pencil and paper.

Also, at one point, I managed to make an aircraft carrier out of cardboard (has the basic shape, but not much functionality), rubber bands (to launch planes like a catapult), and tape. The planes for said carrier I made out of paper, glue, and toothpicks. The planes actually fly pretty good and can drop little paper bombs after launch. I actually compiled an instruction notebook for making these planes, but I lost track of it when I was cleaning up my room.

Err...that came out weird. How does that motor operate? Is it just a current passing through a commutator?

Ah, yes. And I made mummies. Real ones (with animals) as well as model ones. I didn't kill them myself. One was a friend's pet. We were strange kids.

Made a beer pong table with some friends when we got our first apartment together.

They wouldn't let me go near power tools after that.

I'm currently working on a giant squid body pillow. When I'm done, it should be about 8 feet long. I'm doing every stitch by hand and still haven't purchased stuffing, so it's taking a while.
