I think they want to believe in god but don't want to follow any specific religion as most are filled with corruption, lies, insane rules, discrimination etc...

Usually people want to believe in something though.

Sounds like Deism, it's like believing in a "god" but one that doesn't intervene in human life and can't be prayed to.

I don't know what they mean if they don't mean God. I've never been the religious/spiritual type.

i believe there is a God or a creator of some sort but i dont think it cares about the affairs of our daily life or humans in general. i think i am what you call a deist because i believe there is a higher power or a god but i dont believe in any of the religions. I dont believe in Jesus or any prophets or anything from the Bible and the Quran.

I'd go along with "beyond human comprehension," but stipulate that it's beyond human comprehension as a matter of principle. I.e., something that is forever to be beyond human comprehension.

I wouldn't put too much stock into it though; it seems like a phrase that's vague on purpose.

Nope.

Some religions see God as their higher power.
Others see the Earth itself or Mother Nature or Gaea as their higher power.
Some believe the higher power is a group of Gods.
Others believe the higher power a group of aliens architects.
Some believe the higher power is none other than Satan himself.
Others believe in a disembodied ball of life energy in space as their higher power.
Some believe there is no higher power at all.
Others, like me, believe there may or may not be a higher power but I'm too insignificant a cog on the grand design of the universe to give a definite yes or no.

I'm already aware of this. My question is what is that power supposed to be higher than. Any power can be a higher power if you compare it to the right thing

Oh, that one is simple...it's higher than any of us who can die by a bullet, knife or even mushroom cloud.

For my own religious beliefs, I believe that two aspects, Order and Chaos, are as central as you can get. They are everywhere and indivisible, all things can be broken down into one category or the other. Chaos is energy, life, matter - anything that creates possibility. Order is nothingness and present in things that serve to limit possibility. I don't think that I've called them a "higher power," but I suppose that description fits. I just don't believe them to be sentient.

Everyone knows that the best marijuana buds crown the highest peak of virgin female plants, the best barrel-aged booze is hoarded my ethereal beings, and that things that live at very high altitudes must be very powerful. Therefore, the phrase higher power means that those who live in the clouds are more wasted than we will ever be. That's why they're higher than us.

They're referring to the all knowing Spagetti Monster.
